100% it's ride or die with Bryce no matter what is happening. No way you can bench for multiple reasons. It's year 3. He has to figure it out but we know how this plays out it's just going to suck ass to spend another top 10 pick on an offensive player. A qb none the less

Derrick Brown is the Leader of this Team
Gapanthersfan replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
The talent isn’t great, but this has to be the worst top to bottom coaching staff I’ve ever seen. There are players here and there making plays out of shear heart, but it is only due to their individual effort. Horn and Chuba. That’s it. Not a single position group is even a little prepared to play. WHERE IS THE COACHING? It’s an amateur hour clown show. NOBODY knows wtf to do or how to do it. This is the basic stuff that is supposed to get ironed out in TC. I now 100% believe this is why Thielen wanted out. He saw the unprepared and unmotivated s-show all through camp and wanted no part of it. XL not even trying to block or come down in bounds??? That’s as basic as it gets! GTFO. Sadly, under Tepp, this team is THE no fly zone in all of pro sports for competent coaches. NOBODY wants to work for that dude. It’s the coach graveyard and Tepp is the undertaker. Position coaches by and large want to climb the coaching ladder so why in the hell would anyone worth anything come here? This team needed and still needs a GM/HC combo that Tepp would never feel comfortable hiring. Just imagine if we could have landed Harbuagh, Johnson or Payton. Our 2 SB coaches, Fox or Rivera, would have never been hired under current ownership. It starts at the top. My way or no way coaches need not apply here, sadly. -
Let's not get too crazy here. There have been some pretty God awful QBs in NFL history that Bryce - even at his worst - is far better than. He at least has managed a handful of wins and some decent performances, like last year against the Chiefs, Eagles and Falcons. Just off the top of my head: JaMarcus Russell, Paxton Lynch, Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Johnny Manziel and that's just a handful of 1st rounders off the top of my head that were, at worst, no better than Bryce.

Tepper is still pulling the strings
Jon Snow replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tepper cannot get anyone worth his salt to work for him. Dave and Dan were his only options. Canales is what I thought he was when he was hired. He's a glorified Pelaton instructor that is just happy to be here. -

Bingo. Harbaugh even reached out to Tepper and got turned down. McCarthy is who I wanted when ol' Dave hired the used car guy. All the Huddle kept saying was "no more retreads." The retreads on the list above actually have done better than the newbies we hired. Reich got shown the door so quickly, we will never know if he could have turned it around. Apparently he wasn't emotional enough--I mean an even keeled coach is the last thing this team needed. -

I thought it would take around 4-5 games to tell how happy or pissed I'd with the rest of the season.....NOPE! -
Tepper is still pulling the strings
SmokinwithWilly replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
He doesn't have to be there for the day to day. It's is he present when its big deal day like trading up to 1, rejecting a Rams ransom for Burns, giving total control to guys with little to no experience in key positions? Dave's few big decisions are more destructive than any day to day meddling could hope to be. -
That’s not an easy fix. We are stuck with DC and DM because we couldn’t get anyone else. Unfortunately, Tepper has to give those two guys at least three seasons to repair his reputation. Otherwise, the candidates we need will continue to choose other jobs.
-
That's even more distasteful than just playing Young out regardless. I would rather see Hooker play than Morgan trade for enough wins to take us out of QB picking territory. This is a top 5 picking team without a trade.

We`re going to have to trade for another QB like a Minshew or someone similar if he decides to bench Bryce again. Dalton is done. -
Tepper is still pulling the strings

The easiest fix is to clean house and hire a respected team builder. Tepper should not even set foot in the facility. -
In all honestly, as a Bryce supporter from the start it's pretty clear he's probably not the answer at this point. I wouldn't be shocked if he turned it around this year, but odds are we'll be looking for a new QB come draft season. That said, anyone calling for Bryce to be benched is wrong. We MUST have one of two outcomes to this season for this franchise to move ahead: 1) Bryce turns it around and establishes himself as a franchise QB. 2) Bryce continues to struggle, we lose a bunch of games and end up with a top-5 pick that we can use to draft a QB next year. Anything in between those two outcomes doesn't do us much good.

Relax. We are off to a slow start.
SmokinwithWilly replied to jasonluckydog's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wish we could replace Morgan. I genuinely don't know who we're going to get. This team has a terrible owner that thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and while that may be true as a fund manager, as an NFL executive he's in way over his head. But anyone who is seriously looking at this job will see his fingerprints all over the way this team has been run since he bought it and nobody wants to work for a micromanager. -
The entire 'him and Morgan are building the team up for the next QB' take is coming apart already. The failure to bring in meaningful talent at #2 while resigning a washed Dalton will be their fatal mistake. No way to justify those 2 picking the next QB while wasting time on Plumber and Hooker while simultaneously building a D for Evero. By the end of the year they will either limp into the offseason losers regressing or already have lost the locker room. No idea where it falls i that spectrum but they all should be fired by the end of the season. Hell go fire Evero and Morgan today.

I hope he does. They are all terrible. I'm ready for a different flavor of terrible. lol -
You apparently don't realize unused cap space rolls over to the next season. So yeah, this year's cap numbers affects next year's cap space. I could care less how much cash Moton got from Tepper, I care about how much cap he's taking up.
-
I wish, but I don’t think we can do that. Tepper has a terrible reputation of firing too fast, which means the best candidates stay away from us. That’s how we ended up with Dave and Dan. Unfortunately, we need to let those guys play out three full seasons at least before we hit the market again.
-
It's not that Tepper is meddling....it's that post Rhule he has been just expecting random pieces to just work out. The people don't fit together at key/pivotal spots. Rhule era was incompetence at the helm. Frank era was a bunch of random people. Then the player talent didn't match what the coaches would be doing. The Canales era is basically a repeat of the Frank era. Player talent doesn't align w/ what the coaches are doing. We are trying to run a 3-4 D without the fundamental players for a 3-4 D. The coach and staff are thrust upon the HC. On O, we hired a HC that runs an old school O and the key piece is a traditional downfield gunslinger to make that old approach work. Bryce isn't a QB that can make it work. He doesn't have the arm. What he does throw downfield is whack. Easiest fix right now is removing Bryce, Evero and probably Dan Morgan
-
Yes actually

This stood out so much more yesterday, against the fuging jaguars of all people. I still remember one of the talking points for drafting him over Stroud was his ability to handle pressure. That video of Cam critiquing Youngs fear of getting in the pocket only continues to age well.
-
Canales is fuggin terrible. Soft ass coach. Probably gave every player a blue ribbon after the game.
-
Remember when he was brought in, and folks were so concerned that he might only be here a year before some team snapped him up for a HC job, because he was just going to be that awesome? Meanwhile..
-
I've seen this thread before lol. I feel like a slow start isn't getting absolutely dominated and not even looking like an NFL team. It's probably time to replace Morgan. I never liked that we kept someone that worked so close with Fitt anyway. And Canales, I guess what did we expect he's the only coach we could get that probably wanted to be here. Was always a roll of the dice. I suspect he's great in a job interview.

SCO96 started following Bryce at post game press conference

You have a point. I don't think he's the answer. But, we can all agree that He looked a bit different on the field when he returned from his benching. People tend to wake up and strive to get better when they are in danger of the losing their job. Back in the 1970-1971 the Cowboys went to back to back SB's with 2 different starters (Craig Morton/Roger Staubach). That was one of the most intense competitions in history. Staubach missed almost all of the 1972 season and Dallas still made the 1972 NFC title game. Montana got better when Walsh brought in Steve Young Favre had some excellent seasons after Aaron Rodgers was drafted. Phil Simms got hurt in 1990, and their back up QB Jeff Hostler beat the 49ers who were going for 3peat on the way to a SB win over Buffalo. You need to have a guy who can at least push the starter so he doesn't become complacent, especially when he isn't elite.
-
WRs were open all game, Young is a deer in headlights once game action starts. Morgan is probably working on a contract extension as we speak.
