I’m ready to fall in love with the Carolina Panthers again

I hear you. Certainly being done differently than any other time in Panther history. Our offense being made the strongest unit of the team. I'll enjoy watching them play, as long as our defense plays well enough that we actually win some games. We'll see. I never imagined that I would become to emotionally detached as I have been this decade. -

NIL probably had something to do with it as well. https://247sports.com/college/texas-am/longformarticle/dl-nic-scourton-reflects-on-lone-season-at-texas-am-joining-carolina-panthers-2025-nfl-draft-249329153/#2641460 On getting into A&M On NIL. -

Purdue was the worst team in the BIG the last 2 years and West Lafayette, IN is awful. I have been there. -

Texas A&M Nic Scourton vs. Purdue Nic Scourton

Did you watch the interview I posted? Scourton himself said he was 280 but just overall a tighter 280 And yes colleges and people lie about that stuff all the time. Any time I got to fill in my info for a program or something like that I added 1-2inches and 10-15 pounds. It’s why they take these players measurements at the combine Ive already watched a bunch on all of our draft picks and I think both edges have real potential. Scourton and Princely can beat you in multiple ways. Both Nic and Tet are smooth/fluid movers and I’m always a big fan of those types There’s a good interview with Princely I posted in his draft thread I believe where he talks about how he felt like last season at Ole Miss was the first year he was getting developed properly. Learning the why behind what he was being asked to do. I was also pleased to see Princely improve his 3 cone time at his pro day. His combine 3 cone time caught me by surprise given what he looks like on tape -

I trust Dan to be aggressive next off season to address our safety/CB issues next year. Dan has been aggressive addressing each position one off season at a time. Year 1 was o line, year 2 was defensive front. -

Sophomore to senior in one year? What happened to being a junior? I think a 20 year old three year starter with limited injury history and a great year at Purdue is likely to succeed. -
I agree that playing with Slavin makes any defenseman look better and have better stats, but I still stand by the fact you don't even think about plugging in an AHL d-man for someone who has played the entire year during the playoffs unless it is due to injury. I am looking at this year's run as a bonus because I did not think that the Canes would win a series in the playoffs. Knocking NJ out and hopefully the Crapitals is gravy!
-
I am thinking they flip where the run D is closer to 23 and the pass D closer to last years 32. I just don't see the pass rush being impressive, especially if they are getting rid of Clowney. Thankfully they were able to keep Jackson but if horn goes down again it could get comical.

Morgan looking for aa FA Free Safety
LinvilleGorge replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It wasn't a great safety draft but I was disappointed in the type of safety we drafted. I just don't understand why the Panthers have always been caught up in the idea of playing two strong safety types as the league has evolved more and more into a passing league. We're starting to see the running game make a comeback but still, the ball is in the air a LOT more than it was back in the '80s and we have always taken an '80s approach at the safety positions. -
Carolina has been looking for a true FS for 20 years now.
-
Clowney needs to be a rotational player at this point, he was at Baltimore before he came here and got 9 sacks. He was gassed most of the time out there. Scourton and Wonnum will start, Clowney and Princely will rotate in

Why didnt he just draft one? not that they had to start but paying Moehrig then drafting Random feels redundant -
Injury history most likely. Which would also negated the entire purpose of needing a starting FS still...shoulder most recently.

Just feels more of the same with different twists. Better never seems to be by much and worse is always waiting to pop out yet again. Year 2 of this build. Lots to prove. How many core guys does this roster even have after another offseadon? I'm just numb and the only anger I have left is just wanting to watch decent football again, not even great just decent. -

Had him as my second best DE near start of draft process. I think he should immediately start next to clowney. Keep wonnum in a back up role. -

Blackmon would be a nice fill in. I'm surprised he's still available. -
PFF raves about our draft. The best class in the whole draft?
Tr3ach replied to Panthers Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree. I didn't love this draft, I would give it a B, but I was really unhappy with last years draft so it's a step in the right direction. I feel like there was definitely more of a plan this year and I can at least see what they were trying to do with most players they picked.
