How many Qbs can you name better than Bryce Young?
mav1234 replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think we need to constantly try to put Bryce above the best QBs in the league by twisting stats... I mean especially when it comes to 4th down passing where splits exist for that. But also this is just ignoring so much. 1) Panthers are 24th in the league in 3rd down efficiency, which is a bit lower than average. 2) Goff has a higher QB rating on 4th down than Bryce Young does this year, same with Mahomes. Fwiw, Bryce for his career is similar on 1st and 4th down. 4) One reason we are effective on 4th down is our rushing game, even when it isn't utilized. 5) Bryce is better when the pressure is on than when it isn't, that's for sure, but one reason we have to go for it on 4th so much is that our scoring offense is not good (28th in the NFL) so we are having to eke out every possible point. -

We are all a bit biased on that opinion as well, and that's what being a fan is about. -
The sign of growth is the Panthers The fortunate bounces is the Bears (+ 16 turnover differential which is unheard of )

Young wins NFC Offensive Player of the Week
mav1234 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's pretty awesome, tbh. Good to see recognition for the success of last week. Now is the first of many major tests. I hope he and the rest of the offense continue to ball out - more fun this way, lol -

All I can say is the Panthers have gone for it on 4th downs more than any other team this year - 27 times - and have converted 67% of them. The next two are the Giants and Lions @ 25 and 23 attempts converting 52% and 56% respectively. So Bryce/Panthers are converting at a higher rate than Geoff/Lions. The only teams with at least 20 attempts doing better than the Panthers are the Chiefs (76%) and Colts (81%) - I looked up the Colts and the majority of theirs comes from rushing. So basiclly Young is between Geoff and Mahommes on 4th down completion efficiency. If you are wondering if they are having to go or it because of poor third downs numbers, they are converting 37% on third downs which is about average so it really isn't that. -
Thomas Davis had his first ACL tear nearly 2 decades ago. There is nothing similar about the group (I think Wattenberger did his back in the day) or the actual procedure. There have been lightyear advancement in ACL reconstruction.

The flaw in this is that every athlete's body will respond differently. To think that he will bounce back and be just about like new is as incorrect to think he will never run again and a stiff breeze will send him to the ground. There is really no way to predict what the outcome will be.

You really don’t want to come out with new uniforms when you’re bad lol. I’m guessing that’s why they pulled it. You want the association with the new look to be positive. Appreciate the inside baseball -

It also means we are winning close, 1-score games. On 1 hand that can be a sign of growth and a team learning to find a way to win. Negatively, it is a team getting fortunate bounces, and is typically not sustainable. See this year's Chiefs compared to last season. -

We saw this with Foxball. Run the ball and stop the run usually creates close games. When a team has major advantages we get blown out. -
Parity in the league is out of whack. I think there are a lot more bad teams than there used to be. They play each other and the games are close. They play upper echelon and the difference shows up on the scoreboard in the form of blowouts on occasion. As to the OP we have to try and play those better teams close and sometimes we can. It means making a it low scoring game. Basically if you want more points the QB has to play better. Some weeks he doesn’t play very well.

It tells you that we've won quite a few close games while taking some real ass kicking in some of the losses. -

This doesn't take away from any of the points made here, but the Bears are 7-3 with a -6 point differential.

Da Bears also have a negative point differential.

I’ve said it before. Panthers are neither a good nor a bad team… which is a GIANT leap forward from 2 seasons ago. They’ve gone from an embarrassing, unwatchable curb stomping on an every week basis to glimpses of competitive football and a team with actual, legit talent. Ickey, Hunt, Chuba, Rico, Tet, Coker, Moton, Lewis, Brown, Moehrig, and Horn would be legit starters on most NFL teams, so half of our starting roster. I’d dare call the special teams good this season. In 2 years that’s incredible. With 2 more offseasons and drafts like this last one, even a journeyman QB takes this team to the playoffs. Let them kill it on the first 2 picks in the next couple drafts and find a late round gem. That’s huge. I don’t think the current team is as good as its record, but I’m enjoying the ride. -
Who do you despise more… LaMelo Ball or Bryce Young

Most talented, injury prone softest asshole that doesn't give a fug about the team. I'd take a second and a few guys that give a poo. Why's your defense better now melo? I just be tryin now......... And that last about 3 games last year -

I know it can’t be done, but taking out the NE and BUF games turn that differential around. Those two games alone count for a -60 point differential for the Panthers. The only other loss that was a bit out of hand was the Jacksonville game, which had a -16 differential, and the first ATL win was a +30. All in all, a few lopsided games but most have been close. All it says is the Panthers aren’t dominating teams when they win, and they have a complete dud of a loss every few games.
