Seahawks lock up Sherman - 4yrs - 57mil, 40mil guaranteed

Goes back to my theory that teams that are able to draft a good QB, and have them play on a rookie deal, are going to be pretty successful for a while as they can spread out the money.

Most of the SB winners lately have been QB's on rookie deals, or lower deals.

They're going to be cap strapped eventually...

I think I heard that the contracts of Thomas and Sherman are front-loaded so they are getting their money up front which will allow the Hawks to re-sign Wilson... but what about Wagner?

I guess they could cut Lynch next year to save some money.

They have arguably the best secondary in NFL history locked up until 2020. As long as they continue to draft well and find good talent in the UDFA pile they should be good to go.

Well, that's a massive contract.  My prediction - Sherman blows out his ACL in a meaningless pre-season game going for a tipped ball in the end zone while concurrently trash talking the receiver about how he's the greatest player in the history of the NFL.  Seattle fans everywhere weep for days.

Most of the teams that have locked up their QBs to hundred million dollar contracts have proceeded to not get to the Super Bowl with them.

Likewise, it seems to me that when you see a guy get huge money like this (Revis, for example) the next thing you watch is their downfall.

Coincidence or trend?
