Gettleman: Bell and Chandler will compete for LT next season

I'm on the train that likes Chandler.  He still may go through some speedbumps but he's super versatile and has played well at RG and RT..not to mention well at LT in the preseason.  I'm not too worried.

Honestly if we get a guy like Cameron Fleming to start at RT it won't matter as much who starts at LT. We can put a TE on the LT side and give that side some help.

Didn't we already know this prior to the draft, though? Even if the Panthers had picked an OLineman at 28, he was expected to be RT, at least in the beginning.

I think I remember seeing Bell at LT and Chandler at RT in the 4th quarter of the Giants game. I don't think there is much we can learn from it. It's like when your blowing out a team in soccer and they put the Goalie in at striker.

 

Last year we were ripping out our hair because we didn't draft a corner or Safety. When the season starts you don't really think about that stuff you just prepare and play.

So basically nothing new. Im pretty sure if a tackle was cut and could be had at a reasonable price, we would try to sign him.

Wouldn't be surprised if Chandler wins the competition and turns into a solid LT. 

 

you wouldn't be surprised if a kid who went to college to play tight end but converted to defensive tackle, which he continued in the pros, and then randomly switched to offensive tackle, then had to switch to guard where he was absolutely putrid, won the starting left tackle job over a guy who played LT all throughout college and has three years of experience playing RT in the NFL
