Greg Hardy Arrested

Recommended Posts

Not trying to run him out, I just want him to reduce his ridiculous cap hit.

Unfortunately, I think CJ may have all the leverage now.

I certainly don't want to run CJ out of town, but I see virtually no chance that he plays in Carolina next season with the cap hit that his current contract carries.

Though, he's certainly gaining a poo ton of leverage right now.

Yes, leverage indeed. I don't know about you guys though, but I think CJ would be willing to work with us a little, he is a team guy.

My bad--- I just want to say I'm waiting on the facts also but....

Girl I'm talking to is friends with Hardy girl an rumor is this isn't the first time this has happened. They he's beat on her before except he never calls the police. This time other people were their when it happened which is why the police were involved.

When the police got their the girl said nothing happened but because of the other witnesses it seems they decided to arrest him anyway.

I have in no way ever met Hardy or his girl. I want to make that clear. That's all I know and it's all rumors so..

I keep thinking back to Gettleman's response when the reporters asked why we decided to give Greg a workout bonus..."I wanted him to be near me."  I certainly don't want to jump to conclusions but that quote takes on a whole different light if what you are saying is true.  At the time I assumed it was for negotiation purposes, but I wonder if they were hoping to keep him focused and out of trouble.

And @ TheRed, i've never understood the desire to push CJ out... I thi k people have been resentful since he got the big contract. I think we did what it took to keep him and he is still a great player, plus it kept him from becoming a divisional opponent.

Yeah I agree about resentment because of the contract. CJ has been a good leader and teammate here, I would like to keep him.

What do the people who have been wanting to run CJ out of town have to say for themselves now?

Are you really trying to call people out for not taking into account the potential for a player to get arrested?

Jeremy B. Smith @LawCLT

@LRatcliffeFOX46 AOF is an A1 misdemeanor, highest one in NC. Assuming he has no record, can get up to 60 days in jail. More likely 1/2

Jeremy B. Smith @LawCLT

@LRatcliffeFOX46 to get probation if convicted and anger management, batterers program and community service. Big "if convicted" though. 2/2

Jeremy B. Smith @LawCLT

@LRatcliffeFOX46 Says something that officers took out the charges. They likely will say they saw evidence of assault since they charged.

He also looks a bit toasted in the mugshot. Not good.

Eh let's not go overboard...innocent until proven guilty.  I really hope this was just a big misunderstanding and the charges get dropped but any way you slice it Hardy is at fault here no matter what happened.  This type of poo never has a good reason of happening.  But Hardy will definitely play next year - if Ray Rice can knock out his fiance in an elevator and still play in the NFL, Greg Hardy probably won't even get suspended for this.

You cannot be that blind.

There are many risks with keeping Hardy over CJ. Off the field being one of them, but consistency on the field more so.

Out of all the possibilities I laid out in my first post here, I did t expand on my last one... and that is IF he did indeed assault her. The old adage comes to mind, "money doesn't change people, it just makes them more of who they already were." And if this is true, which i'm hoping it's not, then Hardy just got more out of control.

    • Yeah, I'm serious. You take all of the first year jitters any rookie QB starting will face. Then you put him behind an inept line, give him a group of WRs that features a 32-33 year old slot receiver as their only reliable guy and use him as WR1, no TEs to speak of, pay big bucks for an undersized and over-touted RB that isn't out competing practice squad players AND THEN pair it up with a dysfunctional owner/HC/OC combo that keeps running the same play concept again and again and again. (And coaches that were already at each other's backs with daggers don't develop young QBs... heck it's the hardest skill ever for any HC.. Jon Gruden never could do it and there's a case to be made that Belichick never did it (the QB developing the coach possibly there)). Yeah, he was bad, legendarily bad, but he was in possibly the worst environment imaginable for a rookie QB. You can take away some mechanics issues that should have been worked on and still need to be worked on, but everything else was tainted by that environment.  I wasn't impressed by him in the least for anything except for his character and willingness to go back out there and just get killed again and again. At least he wasn't running away on every play, little girly screams lifting to the cheap seats, like Pickles was.  Will he be good this year? Honestly, the odds are stacked against him. They are on every young QB in the league, and he had more piled against him. Maybe Canales can fix him and the team. I sure hope so. If not, it's back to the drawing board and we'll have wasted two seasons. I really don't want that to happen.

    • All this talk of the supporting cast and coaching being the culprits of our struggles is just sounding like the rationalizations of Sam Darnold's time with the Jets. I'm ready to see the results and know what we have. Enough talk. Thank goodness June is finally upon us.
