The 49ers WR corps may tip scales in their favor

There was no LT's worth drafting when we were picking this year...it is that simple.

If the Panthers had reached for Hurst (undrafted this year mind you) in the 4th round....you would be singing a different tune.

Gettleman chose to build the defense last season.

The 2nd round pick of Ealy was by far a BPA pick and it was the right one.  Guy was a 1st round graded talent and we got him at the end of the 2nd round.

We cannot be major players in FA (we have to plug cheap FA's in as stop gaps) right now....we do NOT have the cap space.

The rest of your "ever" and "last couple of years" is more of an indictment on Hurney....this was only Gett's 2nd draft.

Your very last statement, "...this was only Gett's 2nd draft." is what I was referring to. Just seems hard in two little years that you can't come up with a way, like everyone else seems to be doing, to get one LT and just one WR via the draft or other wise. You just don't see that happening to other elite QB's in the league. If the Panthers keep hoping/wishing/praying that the D can keep them in every game again, then you better hope your offense don't have that many three and outs and tire them out. I love the fact that G'man is getting hog mollies and getting big enough to compete better with SEA/sf of the league, it's just hard to imagine that you couldn't find one LT in the last two years. I hope this isn't a, "We're building for the future.....", because your future may not include some of your best players. Unless they like to wait. I doubt it though.

Lol, so we're going to act like Kap can't get better?

That's a stacked WR group right there, and if Kap improves just a little, like most young QB's do, then thats going to be a great team and a very hard to beat squad.  That defense of theirs is already pretty stout as well.  They've got them a squad over there.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

mentioning Kaep and incredible QB in the same sentence is laughable....unless it is "Kaep will never be an incredible qb".

You guys are all homers and incredibly biased if you can't acknowledge that Kaep is a good qb. Of course not yet as good as Cam but good none the less. You guys are pretty much saying what people said about Cam as recently as a year ago.

Kaep can ball. And damn it must be nice to have that oline, offensive coordinator, and weapons. Legit weapons. GMs with brains are good too.

Kaepernick is an incredible qb. Almost 400 yds and 2 tds in the SB, better than most qbs that actually win the SB lol. He outgained and outscored flacco that game 29-27, not his fault the team let him down. Did i mention that was his 10th start? Comes into this year with only Boldin and VD as targets. Some games only Boldin (colts game, VD left panthers game up 9-0). Still 10th in passer rating (higher than cam) still 7th in yds per attempt (higher than cam). Those are the stats that matter not total yardage which is correlated to amount of attempts. Almost won IN Seattle with a 80% crabs, Boldin dropping balls and VD who disappears against them because hes scared of chancellor. Did i mention Gore had 14yds? Yall should stop the hate before its too late.

Gett likes Bell at LT. Given his evaluation of talent last year and the way those players played all season, I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

Kaep is a one read QB who can make plays with his legs. He is SF's weak link

    • The bottom line is we saw long stretches this season where T-Mac wasn't even targeted.  He had games where he went an entire half without seeing a pass thrown his way, and it lead to a bunch of games with 5 or less targets.  If he's healthy and we're not up a stupid amount and only running the ball, I can't see him having more than a game or two next year with 5 or less targets. We were also only 22nd this year in pass attempts, and that was with a rookie #1 and no legitimate 2nd option for half the season.  And even then, we were only 46 pass attempts above 31st place. If we go into next season with T-Mac improved in his 2nd season and a healthy Coker for 17 games, there is absolutely no reason for us to not throw it more.  That right away increases both of their target totals without sacrificing any targets from each other or other players, add in them taking targets from the TEs and RBs on top of that, and your argument just doesn't hold water anymore. You can't look at targets/yards in a vacuum and think next year Coker just takes some from T-Mac.  You have to look at the team as a whole and our situations this year and then project what will happen next year. If he's healthy for 17 games, I'd bet my life savings that T-Mac sees increases across the board, targets/catches/yards/TDs.   Just as Coker will also see career highs in all categories, it's not one vs the other, it's shifting offensive strategy given our personnel, which next year will be much better for our passing game (QB issues aside).
    • C'mon now.... First, you can't switch up your argument once someone points out a major flaw in your point. You're saying we shouldn't expect a big increase in targets/yards for T-Mac, but then shift to talking about averages with Chase when I point out the significant leap he took there once you factor in his missing games.  He saw an increase in targets in 5 less games, averages aside, he saw a significant increase in targets in his 2nd season, what he then did with those targets is actually irrelevant in this discussion. Puka seeing no increase is pointless, as he saw such an absurd amount of targets for a rookie, it's near impossible to see an increase. But the real issue in this post is that you think I'm proving your point by showing how Waddle had to share targets with Hill. Tyreek Hill was a 1st team All Pro who was 2nd in the NFL in yards that season. If you think Jaylen Waddle sharing targets with a 1st team All Pro and a future HOFer is even remotely in the same category as T-Mac needing to share targets with Coker... then you are certifiably insane, lol. If anything, you could make the argument that Coker is to Waddle as T-Mac is to Hill in that discussion (which would then lead to a serious increase in targets/yards for T-Mac).  But even that is insane, as neither T-Mac or Coker will be as good as Hill and Waddle respectively that season.  I love both of their potential, but c'mon now, T-Mac isn't getting 119 catches for 1,700 yards and Coker isn't getting 117 for 1,350 next season.
