Funny, but nobody really knows.  A few injuries, a few lucky bounces, and we could be anywhere from 5-11 to 11-5

Last year, we got lucky when we beat Atlanta (bad snap).  We got lucky on the call in the endzone vs. New England.  We got lucky vs. Miami, SF there (injuries), etc. Heck, we could have easily been 8-8.

we could have also easily started the season 3-0 as oppose to 1-2, and who knows what that does for us confidence wise the rest of the season

like you said nobody really knows

we have a brutal middle stretch of the season. we must start and end the season strong and pretty much split the middle.

I think we get a wildcard spot with Sea winning the other. Saints, Eagles, GB, and SF.

Atlanta will be improved but they rely so heavily on that offense which will be without Matt Noodle Arm Ryan's favorite bailout Tony G.

Tampa Bay is loaded with talent, but I have no faith in Glennon and there is a reason why McCown has been a career backup

The only thing we really lost from last season is an aging Smith who was all over the place last year except for being dominate and Gross.

I don't know why people are counting this team out already, guess Byron Bell heard the same negativity this morning.

Borrowing a quote from a philosopher but  luck is the intersection where preparation meets opportunity.  The other component of this statement which may be relative is that sometimes preparation creates opportunity.  I think we capitalized on both of these fronts last season.

we were extremely unlucky in the beginning of the season. We could have been undefeated.

100% agreed

We could have also been 15-1 if the bills, Seahawks, and cards games would have swung the other way (which each of them easily could have).

The margin between a very good record and a top ten pick is razor thin.

And the same is true for almost any team in any given year.

    • We had Darnold in a terrible situation for Sam Darnold and the team he's QBing. Darnold is best deployed as a high level game manager. He has elite throwing skills but he's disaster waiting to happen when he has to press and a QB has to press on a bad team. Seattle is a great spot for him surrounded with great weapons with an elite defense to lean on.  Swap him and Stafford last night and the Seahawks cruise while Darnold has 3-4 turnovers having to try to play hero ball for the Rams.
    • This picture was posted by the NFL back in September and shows Darnold and Maye at the front closest to the Lombardi trophy. I personally don’t believe in the “script” theory. I do believe that the NFL will influence specific games to get a more entertaining outcome at times. However, this is gaining some steam online and even got a response from NFL PR.
    • In the last 5 years, nearly 10% of the NFL's starting QBs (19% of the NFC QBs) were / are (at some point) on the Panther's roster.  Of those QBs, their 2025 win percentage (regular season) was (combined-- the Seahawks, Bucs, and Panthers) won 30 of 51 games--nearly 60%--in 2025.  At an average of 10 wins per season, a team has a better than 90% chance of making the playoffs.  (Heck, I nearly added Caleb Williams to this forumula since we basically gave the Bears their QB as well).
