Cam makes nice with Peter King

Haha! Well, he was kind of being honest tho. Cam was pretty bad with his attitude after loses. No matter how mad or frustrated you are, as an NFL player, you cant react that way. The media is looking for a reason to throw you under the bus. Cam has learned that now. So King was accurate in saying that. But you are right, he could have just not mentioned it. Lol!

I think early on Cam might have been trying to prove in those press conferences that he cares about winning and losing. He was hearing the predraft bullshit against him about "does this kid really want to win". I've done it in my life. You hear somebody say you don't care about something so you go over the top trying to prove that you do in fact care. I'm sure he was trying to get the message across of "Wow, this kid really does take winning and losing seriously" but it backfired because of the predraft misconceptions. All I know is I'm happy as fug that Cam is the QB here.

i would cry when i lost games up until i was 20 years old. i wanted to win that bad.

so when i saw the way Cam reacted i related and said, "finally somebody who gives a poo"

i don't think he was doing that on purpose, i think he just didn't know how to react professionally with all the camera's around because he has never had to before because he ALWAYS won. And frankly i think he was a kid and was so sick of hearing all this BS around him he could give a fug what anybody thought. Because he kept doing it after hearing the criticism.

Can you imagine being a 21 year old kid and reading and hearing the things said about him? i would have been a complete asshole to everybody in the media, and acted like i didn't give a fug about what anybody said. They basically tried to ruin him.

In today's MMQB, Peter King discloses a conversation he had with Cam Newton when King visited Panthers camp last week.

http://mmqb.si.com/2014/08/04/cam-newton-carolina-panthers-maturation/

and read this...

Yes, that is Peter King complimenting Cam Newton. Although, why add the "after some missteps at post-game podiums following losses". Couldn't he have said...

Guess he couldn't be that nice.

Credibility.  Outside of Panther nation, not mentioning what most perceived as one of Cam's biggest issues would be seen as nothing more than a case of PK kissing Cam's ass in order to get in his good graces, not an objective report that talks about Cam doing something very mature that almost no superstars would even consider.

Pffft, I am 37 years old this Sunday and still break remote controls and poo when I lose in a video game, at p0ker, or when the Panthers lose.

It is immature and I feel like an idiot afterward, but I cant control it sometimes, so I would have been way worse than Cam in press conferences with the way we kept losing heartbreakers.

I'm not reading his article outside of what was posted and I'm not clicking links to MMQB. F*ck Peter King. Just like that.

And people can say what they want, but I think there is a racial element behind all of it... it kind of alludes to what Bomani was talking about with the "humbling" theme. It pisses me off, but ultimately, Cam did the right thing... I just hate that he was the one who had to do it. He was done wrong and I would've enjoyed seeing him shaft King's fat ass everytime he came sniffing around training camp for the next however many years.

Well I'm not defending Peter King but Cam pouted like a little girl his rookie year when he lost and he has matured greatly.

Tom Brady pouts like girl all the time and he has been in the league for years yet he doesn't get the backlash Cam does. Think about that.

Guys who have won Super Bowls can club baby seals without criticism.

Jim Harbaugh and Greg Schiano are essentially the same person, but Harbaugh gets glory and endorsements while Schiano got his walking papers.

People can be extremely forgiving when you win games. That's just how it is.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
