Dalton signs 6 year deal......Cam watching

More guaranteed money, means he will be on the team much longer. Two fine examples are dlo and stew, if not for their huge guaranteed money each would have already been cut. I just hope cams deal is around 20 per and not 26per. Cap or andy can easy be cut after the first year of the deal, very poor agents for both. If young cheap talent plays @ 2mil per at 85% of what either cap/andy do at 20 mill per........ well bye bye andy. With the rookie deals behind so cheap after 2nd round, dumb move for each. Plus the league still has more romo/warners out there to find.

I disagree. Cam, other than Luke, is the player for this franchise, it begins, and ends with him. He has all the leverage. The only way we see Cam do that is if he himself decides to take a very team friendly deal, but the idea that we can basically strong arm him is preposterous.

I love Luke and all but Cam is the absolute face of this franchise.  If you asked any non Panther fan who the first person they think of when they think of the CP's it's Cam Newton.  Then they're like "Oh yeah they have Luke Kuechly too."

Dalton's not worth that.  I assume (if it hasn't already been reported) that it's a Kaepernick-like structure.

And no, I won't be surprised if Newton's contract looks like that too.  Nor will I be offended.

Honestly, given that more than one team has thrown boatloads of guaranteed money at hundred million dollar quarterbacks only to watch them not rise to the occasion, I suspect that kind of structure is about to become the norm for big quarterback deals.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cam does take less money for the good of the team, or structrues the contract in a way that allows the Panthers to remain flexible.

Cam strikes me as the type of guy that legit wants to win more than anything. If that means trusting the team to provide him with weapons while also maintaining an elite defense, I think he will be game. I see Cam as much more like Lebron than Melo. Lebron was willing to take less money to win titles, and it paid off.

Plus, Cam is a marketing machine. Superbowl wins will only mean more endorsements.

and I wouldn't be surprised if cam contract was the richest in the history of the game, at the time he signs. Regardless of how it's structured.

If so, I expect Cam to sign 10 years 500 million contract.

And our offense and defense will have only 4 players on the field against our opponents.

sort of like the King and his Court, in softball.

Will be interesting.
