Is joe webb making a case to keep three QBs on the roster

Cam's in his contract year. Kaepernick and Dalton got Monster deals, and we might not be in the position to pay him what the market bears. Just sayin' it's a remote possibility, but worst case scenario, it might not be such a bad idea to have Cam Jr. waiting in the wings at QB3.

this isn't the NBA... unless Cam is quite literally forcing his way out of the team, he isn't going anywhere.

DA is more than a babysitter.  He's what separates this team from being competitive, to being a team led by Joe Webb.  If Joe Webb was anything close to a serviceable back-up, he wouldn't be fighting for a roster spot in Charlotte.

I love Preseason.  A guy does well against 3rd and 4th stringers, and people want him as back-up instead of a former Pro-Bowler.  This time next year, no one will have remembered that this guy was even on a camp roster for us.

Lets end this DA will be cut bc he is not mobile talk.

The team loves him, he is an elite backup QB and he loves the team.

This is a convo only about do you keep 3 QBs if Webb continues to play like this?

His added value is also that he actually has WR experience as well as could be useful in gadget plays if Shula was creative enough.

I like Anderson, but he is 31yrs old and not mobile. If Webb shows out in the next three games, I saw keep him and Anderson. Anderson has a 1 yr contract and may retire after this season. If he does, we have a Cam clone in the wings and will not have to draft one next year.

Anderson was mobile enough to pick up 10 yards on 2 carries last night against the Bills starting D .

And why would Anderson retire after this season?

You can apply the same concept to DA. If he is still a Pro Bowl QB and makes a team competitive, he would be a starter somewhere and not a backup here in Charlotte.

I still say I want to see Webb have a shot next week against 1st and 2nd stringers. If he still is performing at a high level, he could surpass DA.

He can. that's just your opinion. the cardinals meltdown happened.

joe webb cannot win you games in a pinch. DA can.

If DA could, he would not be a backup for us. Starters do not stay as backups.

Webb is still young and could be on the verge of turning his career around. We need to challenge him more with 1st and 2nd stringers to see what we got.

    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
    • Moton is a class act.
    • Sure, that is possible. That’s what, an extra 55 yards a game on average and 7 more TDs? What if he’s just 15th?  I imagine they would extend him in that situation due to the belief that he’ll keep trending up. maybe a 3 year contract to prove he can be top 10? Sounds like a Tepper plan.
