Dear New England, Thank You

Jeremy Igo

I thank New England to continue to make me realize our run game will be simple to defend pooh. I mean the most basic, less talented teams get better run action than we do. Our runs seem to go into a defense's teeth and not run toward daylight.. Or simply the weak side.

Also I just do not understand why on third and short Cam is holding the ball to wait for a deep route to develop. I envy the quick pass game the Pats employ. That scheme on offense would let Cam thrive and take less hits.

I feel like we are treading water with Mike Shula at the controls.

Totally agree man on holding for a long play. Maybe it's his competitive nature but chunk it out of bounds and play on.

I know this is tough for Carolina fans to believe, but the truth is, Bill really does not give a poo about the Panthers vs. other teams in the preseason.

This was not the Patriots getting all amped up, it was the Patriots executing. The Patriots defense is not the Panthers, but they were quite solid before losing 6 starters. They are now healthy and should be in the top 10, not the best, but if Gronk is back healthy, the Patriots will have an top 5 offense once again. Its preseason but its ok to give credit where credit is due, Patriots were the far superior team....not because the Panthers beat themselves.

Carolina had a nice season last year, now try doing that more than 1 year. By the way, Lafell is going to be the #4 receiver at best and #5 target overall. Carolina has no real receivers, only a good TE in Olsen. Make the playoffs a few years, have a winning season more than 1 year in a row before crowing about how great the team is.

Kill yourself.

Slow starts aren't just a Rivera thing, it's been happening for a long time.

we've also had a nice run of finishing the season strong.

not many teams do both.  if you have to pick between the two I'm ok with a few stumbles in Aug/Sept.

I just finished watching the game...

Some good things that I saw on D:

Thomas Davis, this guy was everywhere. The fact that he's even running around still amazes me. Such a underrated LB. He looked great last night.

Maybe Jeremy can confirm this but Star looks like he's in better shape this season and it's showing. He too looked really good last night. He's going to make Greg Hardy and Charles Johnson's job's alot easier this season.

Lastly I think Bene should start at nickle. I'll admit I was thrilled when we picked Bene, I didn't think he was quick enough and he needed to improve his tackling. But from hearing all the good from camp with this kid and watching him last night I'm very pleased with him.

On O...

KB... Here's a draft pick i loved! That catch he made on the slant in front of Revis was so nice. I expect teams to double Benji from day 1. I would've like to have seen Cam keep that incompletion he threw to KB inbounds and let him go up and get it.

Stewart... 4 carries for 11 yards BUT is still healthy! We need Stewart so badly this season. Unlike Deangelo, Stewart can pick up yards after contact and does. Stewart always falls forward and picks up an extra yard or two. I love Deangelo but those series' that start with two plays to Deangelo are doomed from the start. Deangelo just doesn't run hard anymore and once touched, he's going down.

Bersin... Made a couple of catches. First one was nice, I really hope Bersin can emerge as a legit WR for us. I'm not so thrilled about Cotchery and Avant.

Lastly... Cam. I'll take 8-12. If this was a regular season game, he would've picked up a couple first downs with his legs. His first incompletion to Olsen should've been caught imo. His other miss to Olsen was on him obviously, he needs to make that throw. He did hold onto the ball on a couple third downs that I didn't like, I'm a huge Cam homer (I know) but he can't take those sacks. Shula also has to stop calling these long developing plays, but this has been a problem for awhile and I don't see it changing.

Overall, I am concerned going into the season. Our safety play is scary. Lester completely whiffed on a 3rd and 7 play that led to a first down. Also we gave up a 3rd and 17 or 19 play to Thompkins. Turner and Chandler need to get healthy, and Cotchery and Avant need to remind people they play on this team. Anyway, I just finished watching the game and wanted to vent quick. Tried to keep it positive since there's alot of negatively floating around here right now.

good game guys - i'm a diehard patriots fan. i follow them 24/7 for past 30 years.

you guys have a good board.    i've been lurking and i love your passion.

ramblings -

1.  sorry guys, but there is no 'revenge' factor from the players and BB.  but fans?  definitely yes.   here is what we are going through internally.  we haven't won it all for 10 years.  we only care about winning the SB.  brady or bb isn't into revenge.  at least not anymore.  we revenged our losses many times past 10 years.  that didn't get us the 4th SB.   most treat this season as beginning 'last hurrah' for brady & bb. it's the last tour.   we know the window closing. they know it.  3 years?  4 years maybe?     we are all deprived. fans, kraft, bb, brady, other pats.    we miss that feeling.  it's been 10 years. this is the only reason why we take preseason seriously.   BB makes players to run a mile after stinkers.

2. many fans feel that we lost the edge along the way.  pats used to be nasty.   patriot swagger was gone for past few years.   in our off season we focused on trying to be nasty.  revis signing was huge for us.  he will bring nastiness to our D.   we saw what seattle did.   we are realizing we must fix the D or no 4th SB.

3. KB looked good.  i expect great things from him.   i envy big WRs.  6ft 5 240lb guy who can run and catch?  he definitely stood out.

4. there is no defensive player i would rather have for my pats than kuechly in the entire NFL.  not sherman, watt,  miller, peterson, bowman, and etc.  such a great playmaker with a great instinct.  if he was a pat, he probably would've been my favorite player of all time - topping my fav pat, bruschi.

5. i understand the hate on brady. he isn't your typical next door neighbor.  dude can be a major a hole on the field. he has everything.  guys like that don't make good friends.

but put yourself in his shoe for a sec.   he misses that early SB success.   he will do whatever it takes to get W.  all he ever wants to do is win his 4th.  he knows more than anybody how hard it is to win one.  it's been 10 years.  it's killing him.  every scream & yelling is saying 'WTF!  this ain't gonna get me my 4th'.   he will die trying another ring.  let's say he is 40 and he couldn't get it done.   he will go to other team and try to get one.  he is a competitor.   i wish other fans embrace that insane drive to succeed.  i wish fans understand that.     you can hate his look, hate his antics, hate his lifestyle, but embrace his passion for the game.  because IMO, it's amusing to see a man who has everything still loses a sleep over a bad play.  and brady isn't about stats either - if he did, he won't keep throwing to thompkins or dobson - 2 talented, but puppies on the field.

6. for panthers to get to the deep in the playoffs, cam must turn into top 7 QB IMO.   it's hard to build a team like seattle.  that doesn't happen often.  but just like peyton, brady, rodgers, brees - QB can change everything.   i think cam has all the tools.   IMO, he is actually underrated.   with all this talk of wilson, kaep,  Luck - Cam is often not mentioned from media.   regardless, i think Cam has what it takes to be a rising superstar - meaning a face of the NFL.  once he become even more mature i think he will eventually become top 7 QB.   and when brady/manning/brees leave for good, that means Cam should be top 4.

i don't think cam will ever get to brady/manning level, but i think he can get to prime big ben level but better.  cam is big as hell, and he can move.  and he is only gonna get better skill wise.  but he has to be that crazy insane mania like peyton/brady are.  if he is treating monday to -friday like a homework then that's not enough.  he has to treat it like a final exam.  he must lose sleep over a bad play.

7. i miss steve smith.  outside of pats, smith was my favorite offensive player.

8. i lived in SC in 90's.  panthers fan base came long long way.  mad kudos.

9. sorry about biakabutuka. (i went to michigan)

10. sorry about SB XXXVIII, but it was a helluva game.  one of the best SB ever.  do you guys miss delhomme?  i kinda miss him.  i loved watching him play.

good luck to your team, and hopefully we meet again in the SB.

    • After Bountygate and the information that came out on the Saints owners shielding pedophile priests in New Orleans it will forever be the Saints numero uno for me. FUG THE SAINTS! I hope this is just the beginning of a long term period of suffering for that shitty organization run by even shittier human beings. #2.Pats/Belicheat #3. Falcons (Mike Vick years then Matt Ryan/Julio running it up) Ryan pooping his pants and 28-3 def makes my bad days always better just thinking of those. #4 Pretty much any franchise fan base thats obnoxious Steelers, Eagles, Bills, Jets, Giants, Cowboys, etc.
    • Thank God DM used that #8 pick on a bona fide WR1 and not some bum pass rushing prospect like Stewart or someone else. I believe Tet is legit WR1 material and going forward will be our long term answer at that position since we desperately were in need of one once they traded away DJ Moore.  Tet could possibly end up even being better long term than someone who I respect a ton as a WR in Moore. Evans has been a pleasant surprise and great TE/FB depth piece going forward who could make the most of his opportunities.  Any good offense worth a damn in the NFL has 3 TEs that can do multiple things and being scared by Ian Thomas play for years should makes us all appreciate what Evans is quietly doing as a ROOKIE at one of the hardest positions to learn at the pro level.  Keep cooking DM. This season is not over obviously but seeing some growth out of young talent finally is a breathe of fresh fuggin air for once.
    • Saw this show up in my new feed. Nice to see a couple of our rookies making it into the top 5 so far, even if it is a pff measure... From https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-15-rookies-week-9-2025 ... 4. TE Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers (78.7) Evans struggled in the Panthers’ tight win over the Packers, finishing with a 41.8 PFF overall grade — third worst among tight ends this week. He was not targeted in the game and played only one snap in pass protection. He did log 15 run-blocking snaps, and although he earned a 68.9 PFF run-blocking grade in zone looks (seven snaps), his 39.0 mark in gap schemes (second worst for the week) dragged him down to a 46.6 PFF run-blocking grade overall — sixth worst for the week. Despite seeing zero targets over his past two games, Evans still leads the Carolina tight end group with a 74.3 PFF receiving grade. He has caught all nine of his targets for 90 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns. Evans also leads the Panthers’ tight end group in PFF run-blocking grade (72.2). He has recorded a 20.5% positive play rate across 175 snaps.  5. WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (78.6) McMillan had a better day against the Packers, recording four catches for 46 yards. Most of that production came in the first quarter via two 16-yard catches — one of which he snatched from Carrington Valentine’s hands, who was in perfect position to break up the pass. McMillan accounted for three first downs on the day, although Green Bay was able to limit his impact after the catch, holding him to 0.8 yards after the catch per reception. McMillan now has 41 catches for 558 yards — a top-15 mark. He is also tied for second with 19 explosive gains of 15-plus yards. Three of McMillan’s catches against the Packers came between the numbers, bringing him to 22 for 318 yards and 19 first downs (tied for second most) this season. He owns a 26.1% threat rate and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade between the numbers. He also ranks in the top 10 in explosive gains (10) and yards after the catch per reception (5.5) within that area of the field.
