Greg Hardy's trial might not happen until next year

Crying shame someone can get potentially kicked out of the NFL for a he said/she said situation. Seriously, all it will take at this point is for a gold digger to get involved with a QB and he's done, either through blackmail or from the legal process.

If NJ court system wasn't messed up, Hardy would currently be playing.

He'll never play another down for the Panthers. He made it easy for the team to decide on a long term plan for him.

It pisses me off that we have to continue paying him and that 13 mil is useless. It would have been nice to get a freaking LT with that money. Hell...get a LT AND keep Smitty.

So Hardy will certainly not see the field this season, and the odds are good that he won't see the field next season either. It's over. Hardy is a fool, and if he's guilty then his career is over. If he's innocent, then he might be back in 2016.

If he's not guilty why would he not play in 2015? And if he is guilty why would his career be over? Brandon Marshall is still playing isn't he?

I bet no other person waiting to be tried is being paid to stay home

Yeah, they are still working and furthering their career. Given that this is a contract year for Hardy I wonder how many tens of millions of dollars this is going to cost him, even if he's found innocent.

If our justice system wasn't so utterly terrible and this had been cleared up shortly after the incident then his name wouldn't have been dragged through the mud by the media, he wouldn't be sitting out and if he had another big year he'd be looking at a massive payday. There's no way that's going to happen now, again, even if he's found innocent.

It just occurred to me that hardy may not mind waiting. If he feels his case is not a slam dunk, he can avoid any formal punishment until next season, he can fully garauntee his 13 million dollar salary. Then deal with his legal trouble in the off season and structure a contract that does not pay him well in his first season. It's sheisty as hell but Greg loves his money.

Pride did this! He should have avoided all of this , her included, and after the fact he should have took the 6 games from week one. At this point, is he willing swallow his pride? If he were "already" signed to a long term deal then he could be selfish, but without a contract and his current situation he may be a Raider next season if he is lucky... if it were me,, I'd go public, apologize for my involvement and embarrassment of team/city/family (not necessarily confess to the charges), take the suspension, and have this behind me. The media and the court system killed him. Shame on his agent as well. Its funny how money hungry people are willing to blow it all. smh

Yea courts always change dates. It will probably be the summer by time they finish, unless his lawyer can do something.

If convicted I wonder if we can resign him for a cheap price, maybe add incentives if he gets a certain number of sacks. Would be a good deal for both sides.

Unless the new criteria is that if you are found guilty of domestic violence you are kicked out of the league for a year or longer, there is no reason to think he won't ever play for us or shouldn't play this year.  If we use the commissioner's new punishment criteria as an example, then he should return week 7 regardless of his guilt or innocence. Michael Vick spent jail time for multiple felonies and still was suspended only for a year after his prison sentence was done.  Why would we treat Hardy who was guilt of a misdemeanor as severely.

I think the NFL will want to suspend Hardy without pay as punishment. He's being paid while exempt, which I think will not be considered as his punishment. So we're looking at exemption until the end of the trial, which would be the rest of this season, including the playoffs. Then a suspension next season while he's not under contract with anyone, and the length of the suspension will be determined by the outcome of the trial.

So Hardy will certainly not see the field this season, and the odds are good that he won't see the field next season either. It's over. Hardy is a fool, and if he's guilty then his career is over. If he's innocent, then he might be back in 2016.

If he is innocent he is suing the NFL to the ground for treble damages to his future contract.

yea he made it real easy for a team that didn't suspend him and felt he was innocent the entire time.

why plead guilty??? that tarnishes is representation and cause him to lose a ton of money in the process it's not worth it

He wont plead guilty. He was found guilty. He take that and play. You think a NFL team won't pick up Hardy in the offseason? Let's be real here man. Its a business, to win games
