Let me get this straight: Steve Smith ripped Cam, the team, Gettleman CONSTANTLY for months and the week prior to this game. He tore the Panthers a new one today. And we're going to slurp him now? If Smith was a Huddler, he would have been banned a long time ago. Steve Smith Sr. can go fug himself.

 

I'm even surprised. Dude had a good game no doubt but and so what? We have bigger problems that he being on the team would not have solved. He does not play D.

It's a moot point, but Steve himself has said he wouldn't have tried very hard here if he had stayed.

 

 

That being said, I'm happy to see him play well still.

he said some interesting things on charlotte radio... that was basically the gist one day.  I couldnt believe my ears at the time.

He basically said how he was just going to do this year, the injuries were getting to him and he was going to retire after this season, but begin cut and going to the Ravens has really fired him up.

 

No doubt he would've stil lcompeted and made plays for us, but I dobut he'd be playing  at the same level he is onm the Ravens rn

lmao steve smith's inflated production this season is the definition of statistical variance (along with probably leading the league in targets) but thanks for the hard hitting box score analysis maybe try watching a game next time or not idc

Steve Smith said long before he was cut he might retire following the 2015 season and it could be sooner depending how he felt. A change of scenery always changes one's outlook and attitude, none of you have ever lost or left a job you loved and felt angry about it?

      Where would the Panthers be if they sat Bryce Young last season?

      I saw an interesting point the other day about our type of situation.  It could have been wise to hold him off for 1-2 weeks, but that would not have anything to do with Bryce and you could easily communicate that from a PR standpoint.   Why? Well, we just brought an entirely new staff into town, new offense for the returning OL, and had wholesale turnover elsewhere.  So just run Dalton out there the first game or so to see how things are shaking out.  Dry run to make sure we won't kill the kid.  We weren't eyeing the SB.  Get a sense of the line, the receivers, the playbook.  It gives you a glimpse of what Bryce would be stepping into and a good barometer on where things stood sans him.  I suppose we sort of did that with Dalton, but that was a reactive switch and like @Ricky Spanish mentioned, it was against an injured SEA defense where we threw a ridiculous amount.  Who knows, maybe we could have at least won a game or two more that way.  You can adjustments prior to Bryce stepping in, better tee it up for him, and maybe we end up winning game 1 or 2. Last year was such a sh*tshow.  One of the worst seasons I've ever experienced in any sport for any team.  Absolutely nothing made sense together.  Happy we cut the cord early, but should have never hired that crew in the first place.

      It's like folk didn't even watch the game. Dalton took a beating, and barely avoided a lot more violent hits. No 35 years old QB is going to survive a season like that. Imagine him against Dallas or Houston or Indy or Detroit or New Orleans twice! He played better than Bryce in that 1 game, but he wouldn't have lasted half the season.
