Our offensive line, to paraphrase Randy Moss, is...

"Straight trash, homie!"

I know, I know. Another offensive line thread. But, this is worth talking about more in-depth.

I hate Byron Bell as the starting LT. However, he's not even the main issue. The past two weeks, we've faced very similar defenses. Both of them have attacked the middle of the offensive line with twists, stunts, and delays, and it's ahowing.

Ryan Kalil looks perplexed, giving up 2 sacks and 4+ hurries the last two games, along with Silatolu and Turner/Velasco who have given up a combined 2 sacks and multiple pressures.

The most concerning part about this is the mode of attack. Both defenses, Baltimore and Pittsburgh, have done the same things to attack. But, over a two week span, the Panthers still don't seem to be able to handle the opposing teams' gameplan.

Now, I firmly believe that Shula is very bad. But, we should really start looking at replacing Matsko at season's end, because I don't think he has what it takes to coach offensive lines in today's game.

All of this points back to one main point, though. Gettleman preached that you have to win from the trenches, but then proceeded to field a DT, a rookie, and a heavy-footed RT-at-LT for our offensive line.

This whole thing is a disaster, and it's going to cost us games, and ultimately, the season.

Getting blown out two weeks in a row and this defense looking lost and having no fire is really troubling. They get on the field and I have no faith.

That said it's still early, were 500. Lots of football to be played. This time last year we were 1-3 and looked abysmal. The offense is not our strong suit as an entire team

As of right now and I'm telling you this. Right now without any good RBs and a oline that blows to high heaven. Cam and KB is lighting it up. If DG would put our first 3 picks on a few tackles and a guard. Then maybe sign a Vet tackle this off season. Then get a few new RBs can stay healthy. Cam and KB could easly be the most dangerous QB/WR combo in the league next year. But that is if DG invest in the offense a lot more this off season. Offense is key this off season for DG.

The difference is we were 1-3 because of poor coaching decisions last season. In this case, the losses haven't been close. You can't pin it all on one thing like decision making to get things turned around.

defense wouldn't be as tired if the Oline wasn't getting mopped up nearly every drive and play...smh... what defense is energetic after 4 TD drives against them and no offensive relief? Our issues start at Oline and then offensive play calling then the secondary whom will continue to be exposed as long as they are on the field too long. disgusting gameplay today!

I'm glad he noticed. Tired of everyone blaming Cam. Listened to Bayless and Stephen A use every excuse in the book for Brady the other day that I actually had to flip channels mid segment.

When Cam has time in the pocket he's as good as anyone. Cam can make up for the lack of talent at WR with his arm. I guess the silver lining in all this is that we might be in position to draft Cedric Ogbuehi

Richie Incognito is still a FA.

In all seriousness this Oline could use a dirty nasty big lineman who can actually block on the team. Our Oline is too damn soft. Incognito would light a fire in their ass!

*But we all know this has like a 1% chance of actually happening.

fug no.  Incognito sucks.  And he's a shitty human being to boot.  If he was actually good, your notion could be entertained but he doesn't have the talent to overcome the fact that he is a shitty human being.

TOP was about even today.

The reason the defense wasn't getting off the field today was in no way the offenses fault.

It was because the defense couldn't make the plays.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
