Us sucking D on Defense, is it the coaches or the talent?

Recommended Posts

Luke is getting fooled too much and leaving his gap to chase shadows. TD is missing critical tackles. Star is getting pushed around more than in seasons past. Godfrey is screwing up a lot like he doesn't know what play was called. Our DBs don't get off blocks well, they get swallowed up. CJ isn't getting enough pressure on long passing downs, which is causing McD to blitz too much. We need Hardy.

I think it's a mix of both.  Not having Hardy has hurt, and CJ not being worth the contract he's being paid hurts too, so we aren't getting consistent pressure on the QB.  On the flip side, teams spent an offseason examining our scheme figuring out how to break it down.  Our scheme is predicated on pressure up front, get to the QB, force a mistake and not let the QB find the holes in the zone defense.  Cinci is specifically the type of team that beats our defense because Dalton always gets the ball out quickly and finds a short soft spot.  Realize, Dalton has the shortest snap to pass time in the nfl which is like 2.5 seconds, that kind of speed will negate most if not all pass rush and will put pressure on DB's to react quickly, something we don't do at all.  Summation, it's both.

- 2013 Safeties > 2014 Safeties hands down. (Mikell/Mitchell)

- We need our Kraken bad.

- KK is not playing enough

- We have 2 good LB, we need 3..

- Captain and Florence.

Quick fix,

30 Back at safety, Bench Harper,

Norman should start

KK, Star and Edwards should play almost all the time.

Adisson over Horton

Don't rotate the players so much this is not good for the chemistry.

combination of the two.  losing Hardy was detrimental and some of us knew that from the beginning, others are starting to figure out how important a dominate DE is to a defense that relies on the line and see why he was tagged.  with that said, we need to do better getting our players in position.  shula right now is our best coordinator

    • I would write “give remmers tight end help” on a yellow sticky note and stuck it in shulas playbook the night before superbowl 50.
    • And don’t worry about Bryce he will be great… Peyton Manning had a horrible rookie year too 😂
    • Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
