Time to reshuffle the deck.....youth over age

When a team has very little pass rush and a slow secondary,it's a recipe for failure. I would venture to say most of the secondary will be gone next season. Bene,Boston,Norman should be on the field as soon as they HEAL and should be worked in as starters. Let them cut their teeth this year and see what they got. This team needs to develop a core in the secondary and can not clean house every year. The secondary has to play soft and off the recievers due to lack of speed and closing ability. Watching them get sliced up week after week is painfull. The free fall of this unit has been sad. Time to get the young guys in there and let them develop. Can't be much worse then what they have right now.

First off,I'm not your bro. Second,I do believe if you said that to anyone in here to their face you would be flat on your ass. Time to ban this damn abuse once and for all.

Jmac, i understand what you are saying. There are a few things to add though. first we had some young guys in there but they got injured. second we play what looks like soft coverage because we play zone. all of our dbs are better at zone than man. If you switch to man with this group it may not work. The reason we play man, is we often blitz guys, and having man coverage helps prevent holes in coverage. We will bring the young guys back when they heal, but the scheme will remain. I think you are going to need to be patient if you want tight man coverage it might be years.

The tie short circuited the fan base.

We are not tanking the season because of a tie you loons. There are plenty of games to go

A 12-4 season above all expectations with spare parts short circuited the fan base to the point where if we aren't getting 9 sacks a game the defense is a failure.

We are currently in the midst of facing some very talented offensive teams and have played only ONE division game. Things should even out as the schedule gets easier.

You'd never know we are a game and a half in first place.

I would think this theory really applies to special teams. They have been killing us. What is 80 yr old Roman Harper out there on specials teams? He didn't move one muscle as Jones ran by.

I asked myself this same question when I saw Jones blow by him.  Maybe he's filling in or an injured Bene?

    • And that makes you right.
    • Mel Kiper said he would retire if Jimmy Clausen wasn't a successful NFL starter too. Just because the experts make a claim doesnt mean it's true either.  Bryce may be a serviceable QB for someone. Serviceable QBs don't bring you a perennial winner or lead you to the playoffs over and over. Serviceable QBs also dont get 50m plus per year deals which is what a Bryce extension would look like.  The stats show he hasn't been even a serviceable QB in the 3 years he's been here. The eye test shows he hasn't put together 2 franchise QB salary games back to back in 3 years.  Complain all you want about people being negative, but people pointing out that Bryce is held to a different standard than anyone else on the team isn't complaining. It's stating the obvious.
    • We have big bodied WRs and 3 TEs who all have potential and each bring something different to the table. I never saw the need to go out there and try and find a new starting TE.  While it's nice to have a guy like McBride, Bowers, etc, I think a team's better use of the cap is by having TEs on rookie contracts or cheap vets, not having to pay elite TE money.
