If you're a fan of the Carolina Panthers, their comeback against the Cincinnati Bengals was probably pretty sweet. But was the tie at the end of overtime satisfying?

The Panthers continue to play way over their collective talent level. With so many question marks at wide receiver, along the offensive line and in the secondary before the year, the Panthers weren't expected to compete at this level. But here they are, going toe-to-toe with one of the AFC's best teams.

Credit Ron Rivera. Credit Cam Newton. Definitely credit assistant coaches Ricky Proehl (wide receivers) and Sean McDermott (defensive coordinator). With a Week 7 win over the Green Bay Packers, we could be talking about one of the NFC's best teams. If they can double that up with a win over Seattle in Week 9, the Panthers will be a Top 5 team.

I feel like Matt Miller doesnt even watch football.

Indeed.  "Playing over their collective talent level"??  Are you serious?  We are playing so far below our talent level it's ridiculous.  Allowing 34 ppg over the past 4 games with Kuechly, Davis, CJ, Star, KK is mind blowing.  I wouldn't say our offense is playing below our talent level, they're about where they should be considering we have Cam, Olsen and KB but dealing with an atrocious OL and no run game.

We need someone other than Cam Newton to step up and make some plays on offense. Cotchery can't drop game winners, and Cam can't have 17 carries. Damn game looked like the Auburn tigers

I was thinking the exact same thing. And just like at Auburn, the preconceived hate for Cam is keeping the media from gushing over his dominant performance yesterday. He is the best QB in the NFL RIGHT NOW.

Meh, hard to credit McDermott when our D has given up 34+ points in three of the last four games.

I think we lose next week at GB, but come back and beat the Seahawks at home.

I think we have a better shot against GB the Seattle.  Lynch will be tough for us to stop.

Then again most of us thought we would lose to the Bears and the Bengals.....that's why this team is fun to watch.

Not saying he has the best body of work, but that if you switched him out with any other QB in any other offense RIGHT NOW he would be an improvement for every single team.

Are you really implying that Cam (or any other QB) can just be dropped into any style offense and be better than the QB that is running it now?

Do you have any idea how long it takes a QB to learn a new offense?

    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
