Another Hardy Thread....

Ray Rice is getting his suspension appealed and will likely be reduced now the NFLPA has finally filed a grievance. He'll be on a roster within a couple weeks.

Aldon Smith is getting his suspension reduced for "good conduct" and will likely be playing within a couple weeks.

Why do you suppose throughout all of this, Hardy's name has not been mentioned?

Just a few more tidbits to stoke the fire.  Ray MacDonald still hasn't missed a game despite serious allegations that the officer responding to the incident was a personal friend and actually on the payroll of the niners.  http://www.mercurynews.com/crime-courts/ci_26711248/case-49ers-ray-mcdonald-illustrates-potential-conflicts-interest

Here's another story I read recently that is easy to dismiss as apples and oranges but I would argue that it is not.  Hope Solo is playing for the US National Team despite pending trial for Domestic Violence. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/early-lead/wp/2014/09/22/u-s-soccer-stands-by-decision-to-allow-hope-solo-to-play-despite-domestic-violence-charges/

Clearly this is a Jerry Richardson / Panther decision not to bring Greg Hardy back or push the league office.

if the media created outrage in regards to Hope Solo then US Soccer wouldn't have it so easy. She is nuts too which would make it hard on them. No one gives a poo about women's soccer.

It is the media that got Hardy on this exempt list and off the field. Nothing more. Tons of guys have played with worse charges. Time changes though.

I don't really think Rice will be back in uniform at all.

He's a black eye to the NFL right now, one they'd probably move heaven and earth to make go away.

I see what you did there.

But the NFL doesn't have final say when they sign a CBA.  The players have rights in that CBA and the NFL cannot arbitrarily decide on punishment terms based on prevailing public opinion that changes daily.

Yes Greg is getting paid (for now) but his future earnings are being compromised by this form of punishment that is going on outside the scope of the CBA or any agreement.  The Panthers and the league are causing him irreparable harm with this gray area limbo they have shunted him into.  If Jerry was really worried about appearances just cut him and take the cap hit.

I didn't actually do that deliberately...but yeah

If Hardy didn't appeal his guilty verdict he probably would be suiting up this week. He is getting paid to sit at home and then faces 6 games suspension if it goes to trial in November and found guilty again.

This situation is way to complex to assume stuff like that.  He might be playing this week, but considering the way the NFL cowtowed to the media, they may have made the suspension longer for actual convictions.  Also, it would have been reckless on Hardy's part to plead guilty b/c he'd not want that to affect his future contract negotiations.

We should boycott to get Greg Hardy back. I wonder if everyone came together and actually did something about the situation, maybe just maybe we could get Hardy back. It seems thats the only way we will see greg back in a panthers uniform anytime soon maybe at all.

Rice is filing a grievance based on the fact that he was disciplined by the league twice for the same violation/crime, which is against the collective bargaining agreement. It's essentially like "double jeopardy" in the US court system. You can't be tried twice for the same crime.

It really has nothing to do with Hardy's case.

Also, Ray Macdonald hasn't been charged with a crime.

Hardy played week one without suspension while Rice was the guy suspended two games. How did Hardy all of a sudden become Ray Rice?. Media? If you run your team for the national media the Panthers will cease to be relevant. They never loved us and never will so why try to win some PR contest. Your fans and your team want you to win football games, championships. We don't care if the NFL loves us or ESPN loves us. We want to kick ass!

A player gets in a fight with his ex girl with a lot of he say she say no knockout or caps peeled, they both have scratches. Why let the media spin it into something else? This wasn't Ray Rice. If it's Goodell I'd be mad at the NFL for this if it's Jerry I'd once again ask him will a choir ever win a SuperBowl? Just my opinion: if another team would hire Hardy you'd be foolish to let go of a franchise player for a argument with a girl.

If Hardy is innocent....I doubt HE comes back. Not that we wouldn't want him. He isn't postioning himself to be ready IMO.

    • Apparently, it's hip surgery for Pyotr... Thank God he's pretty young bc that is gonna be one hell of a rehab. Hopefully, Bussi can keep his throne warm for him until he's ready for his triumphant return.
    • The Urban and Reich seasons were epic NFL failures for completely different reasons while also linking these 2 QBs. Wasn't Reich fired earlier in the season by a game or something?  Trevor's bust to Youngs bust is interesting and obviously I would take the former 10 out of 10 times. Still, Trevor has only had 1 game over .500 in a season until this year when playing. What I am saying is that that HC is winning with what he has, which isn't perfect, and in a place that scrapping 9 games together is not a given...usually with help from  another QB along the way. And that's in the AFC South. And the Jags are actually paying their QB vs us hopefully dodging a horrendous 5th option. So that's a lot tougher than what it cost to field Young this year or next. I wasn't really trying to prop up Lawrence but Coen. Dude is doing good work and it showed when Carolina played them. The difference between him and DC is like Lawrence and Young at the minimum IMO.
