Cam is high

top dawg

Not an excuse.  It's an explanation.

With Brees, that's an exception.  With Newton, it's every play.

No. No it just isn't.  The protection was very good tonight through the first half.  Cam making poor passes combined with Shula's inexplicable playcalling and a couple dropped balls stalled all of our drives.

The protection is bad and has cost us in a lot of games.  Tonight that was not the case.  Cam is in a funk and needs to break out of it.  But I think it may be too late for our season.

This is not about Brees or Rodgers.  Rodgers has had better lines, and Brees is on Sports Science.   Put them behind this line, and their efficiency decreases as well.

Anyway...getting the ball down is something Cam really needs to work on.  Perhaps the trash cans need to be brought out again.  Dorsey or whoever needs to come up with something.

He has been throwing the ball too high for his whole NFL career.  When is it going to stop?  If there is one thing that Cam desperately needs to work on, it is getting the ball down to earth.  Otherwise we just need to get a bunch of 6'3"+ giants with hops.  Where is Stephen Hill? How about Da'Rick Rogers?

And even beyond that, he has yet to learn when to fire it and when to throw with touch. Also his flat balls! It's like he is regressing so fast I cannot understand what and where things went wrong.

This is exactly why I keep telling you people that I would rather release Cam than pay him what he's asking for. You can't be that inconsistent in your throwing and expect to get paid like a good QB. If we pay him that mega contract, expect losing seasons for 6 years.

You have to understand the effect of constant pressure here, though.

One, a quarterback starts feeling pressure whether it's actually there or not.  Newton's done that a lot tonight.

Two, never having time to throw screws with his mechanics by reinforcing bad habits,  It effectively nullifies all the efforts you've made to coach those things out of him.

Playing for years behind a lousy line pretty much destroyed David Carr.  And while I wouldn't say Newton is ruined just yet, you can easily tell it's affecting him.

Seriously bad sign :(

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
