SI.com ranks Rivera in "Hottest of Hot Seat" Tier

The only two? That's actually two out of three. Not good odds for Rivera. Don't kid yourself, they were fired because they lost too many games.

The losing was due to losing the confidence of the players. They went hand in hand. After the Collins incident it was clear that Capers has lost the team. Seifert was disliked by the players from the start and didnt try to win them over. He was chosen only because of his record and past performance. When he went 1-15 it was clear he couldn't do that either and there was no reason to keep him.

So what have you heard that suggests that he is losing the locker room?

Not me directly.

wasnt he coach of the year in 2013 ? That would suggest you are in the minority.

More than one 'coach of the year' has wound up unemployed within a few years of their award.

In context he improved for all three seasons over the previous year so while the first 2 were losing seasons he inherited a team with some potential but only a handful of actual stars coming off a 2-14 season. So really this might be the first year we actually took a turn for the worse. Given the mass changes, no one expected us to be good, so how can you blame Rivera when he does the best he can with what he has to work with. .Really the best most folks could do with this group.

Fwiw, I am not saying he deserves to be fired, only that he might be because of 3 out of 4 seasons have been losing seasons.

To quote Clint Eastwood from Unforgiven, "deserving's got nothing to do with it".

A lot of coordinators don't (Capers for example).

Lots is a huge overstatement. You went all the way back to 1996 for that example which is 17 years ago. Sure you could add a few others like Dick Jauron in 2001, Jim Haslett in 2000. But since then the only guy you could argue would be possibly Marvin Lewis in 2009. Without going back to before we were even a franchise, Many more were successful coordinators and qualified to be head coaches.

    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
