Panthers Highlight Reel - moRon Rivera's Dumbest Decisions

Since this season is in essence down the toilet, why not compile a highlight reel of Rivera's Panthers tenure?

Number one in my book: 2011 Saints game. Calling a timeout with the clock running at 6 seconds left in the first half, allowing the Saints to set up and kick a field goal - basically giftwrapping 3 points for Sean Payton. Did it because "he thought the field goal blocking team might be penalized."

What are yours?

against the bears in 2012

-kicked a field goal to go up a point, celebrates like medlock just nailed the game winner in the super bowl

-slant, slant, slant, slant, slant, slant, field goal

game over, bears win

I remember that. I had that burrowed deep in my mind.

coming away from 2 goal line possessions with 3 points against the 49ers in the playoffs

continuing to run right into the teeth of their defense when they were full bore selling out to stop it.  play action bootleg to the right and newton could have stopped, dropped, and rolled into the endzone with room to spare.

2012 at Atlanta.

There is no close second.

Calls a qb run on third that actually picks up the first down but Cam fumbled backwards and recovered it so no forward progress. On 4th and 1 Nortman gets a beautiful punt down at the 1.

And then we realized just because you once backed up a hall of fame safety that doesn't mean you are one.

oh yeah, there's this one too

rivera takes the ball out newton's hands on a down and distance where he can just take the snap and fall forward to win the game.  then he punts it to ryan and decideds to blitz our best DB (gamble) with the falcons backed up on their own goal line and needing to force the ball downfield.

(AP) — It had been a while since the Carolina Hurricanes had finished practice, with players coming and going from the locker room. Yet Logan Stankoven was still on the ice, leaving a crowd of reporters patiently waiting at his locker. Such is the dynamic for the 23-year-old as the Eastern Conference's top seed heads into Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to face the Philadelphia Flyers. Stankoven has been rolling at nearly a point-per-game pace going back to mid-March, including scoring in every game of Carolina's first-round sweep of Ottawa. Beyond the immediacy of that spotlight, though, is the other piece of Stankoven's story: the Hurricanes are betting he can keep growing into the role as second-line center, coming after spending multiple seasons searching for an answer there.
