97% of his challenges

This was going to be mine. The net gains for most were negligible.

Here let me throw the flag for this because the punt return should be at the 34 and not the 33 yard line. Many games are won or lost with 12:00 remaining in THE FIRST FREAKING QUARTER.

In that same Chicago game, he didn't try an end of half field goal because he was afraid the kicker's psyche would be damaged if he missed it.

For our newer fans, this is not made up. That was Ron's actual post game explanation.

Spit out my beer reading that. I had forgotten about that quote. Ron really has made an ass out of himself at various times on the Panthers.

2012 home against Tampa goes up 21-10 with 6 minutes left in the 4th. Goes ultra conservative on offense (shocker). Bucs travel the length of the field with Josh Freeman with no timeouts and less than a minute lett to tie it up with a td and 2 pt conversion. Bucs get the ball on first OT possession and score on that drive to win.

Everyone's talking about the screw-ups by Ron, but I think he's pretty smart since he had a huge majority on the Huddle believing that he actually was "RiverBoat Ron"

Well a big reason we went on an 8 game win streak last year was because he was desperate and forced out of his excessively conservative comfort zone.  He was stepping on throats to win games when he became "Riverboat Ron" and it worked.  He's not coaching like that right now and is back to his old ways.

Overall, I think Rivera is a solid defensive coach that meshes well with players and is pretty good at developing defensive talent.  His clock management and game time decisions don't make for a modern NFL head coach though.
