6) Detroit (11-5)

7) Seattle (10-6)

X- New Orleans (6-10)

-Due to playoff formatting an 11-win Dallas team has to play on the road against a 6-win Carolina team.

-New Orleans ties Carolina win 6-wins, and even beats Carolina 2-0 head to head, but lose the division due to NFL tied game rules.

-Defending champion Seattle misses the playoffs at 10-6.

-Baltimore misses the playoffs with an 11-5 record. They loss tie breaker to 11-5 Pittsburgh for final playoff spot. However, Baltimore held tie breaker over Cincannati but got screwed because of their tie against Carolina. If Carolina had beaten Cincy, Baltimore is #3 seed. Carolina essentially screws Steve Smith out of the playoffs. He gets to come home to Charlotte and watch the team he trashed all season play in January.

-Carolina defeats Dallas yet again in the playoffs.

-Carolina loses the next week in Arizona.

The shitstorm to follow would be worth the lost draft positioning and embarrassing loss at Arizona. Carolina would have essentially screwed over the NFL's three biggest darlings in SEA/DAL/NO and Steve Smith. In the offseason the NFL would eliminate ties and change playoff seeding, no more automatic HFA for division winners.

How about prognosticating our draft position if this were to happen?

We will draft #21 if we win the division. Right now we are sitting at #8.

#8

Justin Gilbert

Tavon Austin

Ryan Tannehill

Jake Locker

Rolando McClain

#21

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

Tyler Eifert

Chandler Jones

Phil Taylor

Jermaine Gresham

Or if you wanna look at just OT/WR, here's the first of each drafted after the 8th & 21st picks.

#8

Taylor Lewan, Odell Beckham Jr

DJ Fluker, Tavon Austin

None, Michael Floyd

Tyron Smith, None

Anthony Davis, None

#21

Joel Bitonio, Kelvin Benjamin

Menelik Watson, DeAndre Hopkins

Riley Reiff, AJ Jenkins

Anthony Castonza, Jonathan Baldwin

Bryan Bulaga, Demaryius Thomas & Dez Bryant

"Tanking" for a pick around 6-10 over #21 & the playoffs is stupid. Just win, baby.

Based on how we have played this season and how cowardly Rivera coaches I can only see 1 or 2 possible victories remaining. We lost to freaking Atlanta and New Orleans at home. You just can't do that if you plan to make any noise. I want a Lombardi trophy, not embarrassing playoff losses. We just don't have the talent on our offensive and defensive lines.

Our defense is among the worst in the league and our offense and special teams are among the worst too. I really can't believe you expect this team to make a playoff push. If Cam Newton was healthy I could see it, but he is slow and has no wheels to protect himself behind our makeshift line.

i will root for my team each Sunday's but I can't genuinely answer how I feel about this team limping into the playoffs with no chance to win the Bowl.

Based on that data, I would tank the rest of the season to take my #8 pick and trade it for two 1st rounders later in the draft and maybe more.

I don't think the division home game set up will ever change.Owners like it and honestly the league is better with it. Think how boring all these NFCS games would be with no one from the south having a chance to go to the playoffs. They will simply add 2 wildcard teams and have only the best record get a 1st round bye.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
