Tolbert With Comments Before the Game

I was watching the Panthers wrap up show on Channel 36 and they showed sights and sounds from warm ups.

The Cameraman focuses in on Mike Tolbert and he says (paraphrased):

Take the camera off me. Take the camera off me. Put the camera on him (points to Deangelo). He's the reason I have to do what I have to do today because he won't play. I love him though.

During this Deangelo is shaking his head no and waving the cameraman away.

The obvious question would be "are they joking around?". Tolbert was not smiling at all, Deangelo was not amused. It makes you wonder how injured is Deangelo and how do his teammates feel about his effort this season?

Also in the post game locker room Coach Ron was giving a speech about caring about your performance. Strange scenes for a team in the playoff hunt.

I could not find video of this from Panthers.com or NFL.com, I'll keep looking and update if I find it.

Deangelo knows his days on the panthers are numbered, and I don't get much of a sense that he cares about sticking around in the NFL, he's about to cash his check and spend his days following the pitiful Memphis Tigers around.  Stewart is showing a surprising amount of pride lately, hopefully it's not just a fluke and he stays as a stalwart next year and hopefully stays healthy.

    • Oh I was.  But we still had great players.
    • You keep AT unless he WANTS to get traded to a contender during the season.  He's valuable, TET, XL, and Coker need to learn how to be PROFESSIONALS on game day, practice, and the off-season.  That's what you get from AT.  ADDITIONALLY, he is clutch.  He is steady.  At is that savvy vet who will always flash. I really think they keep 7 WR's if Brycen can operate on special teams.  Week 1 you may see us heavy on WR and OL because of the massive amount of injuries across the league.  Renfrow may even be cool starting on the PS since he lives close and wouldn't need to uproot his family.  You can still make nearly 400K as a vested veteran on an NFL practice squad.  You see more veterans hanging around since the age limit was lifted. I think the 1st 53 and PS looks like so...... Offense: (25) QB (2) Young / Dalton RB (3) Chuba/Rico/Etienee WR (7) T-Mac/XL/AT/Coaker/Renfrow/JHjr/Brycen TE (3) Tremble/Sanders/Evans OL (10) Icky/Lewis/Corbett/Hunt/Moten/Brady/Mayes/Yosh/Zavala/Kingston Defense: (25) DL: (6) Brown/Robinson/Turk/Bobby B/Cam Jackson/Sam Roberts OLB: (5) Wonnom/PJ2/NicSic/Princely/Incoon ILB: (5) Rozeboom/TW/Windmon/Cherelus/Bam CB: (5) Horn/MJ/CSW/Thorton/Evans S: (4) Tre'Mo/Ransom/Demani/Scott Specialists: (3) JJ/Fitz/Martin Last spot: Right now I have it as a toss up between DJ Johnson and Bam.  Until NicSic can come back we need an extra edge.  Do we utilize TW more as a blitzer from the middle to keep Bam safe?  I'm not worried about DJJ getting picked up from another team, a little more concerned with Bam. Practice Squad: DavidMoore/JamesMitchell/JacolbyGeorge/Tuttle/Crumdley/Ray/DJJohnson/Kantra/Carter/Blacksheer/ Wright/KrysBarnes/MichaelReid/Safety pick up/RB pick up/QB pick up
