The Nightmare Scenario

Mr. Scot

I'll prep for the draft and enjoy a season of development from guys like Norwell, KB, Philly, Bene, Norman, Ealy and even Olsen (really announced himself as a top 5 TE).

At the end of the day it would suck. A lot. But there is a next season and we do have an exceptionally talented young core.

I would hope that Rivera would see what a difference it makes when the team is aggressive and plays with a killer instinct. Although we all know that won't happen.

Seriously, I'm a Panthers fan and regardless of the outcome I'll always be back and ready for more.

God, that just makes it sound like being a panther fan is like being an abusive relationship...

"But the good times are really good!"

"They can change, I just know it!"

"This time it will be different, you'll see!"

What moves are you talking about? I'm referring to the players we drafted starting to play well. That naturally happens as any season goes on.

I misunderstood what you were referencing; thought you meant adjustments the coaching staff made through the year.

I am on board with most of the personnel moves, yes. But I think a new direction is needed for the coaching staff.

Mostly the fact that - outside of one season where he was very close to an auto-fire - Rivera's teams don't start winning until it doesn't matter. The only difference this year is that the NFCS is a bad joke. Any other division and we'd have been talking draft by Thanksgiving.

I would be fine.  I just don't root for people's failures.

Amen! Preach it teeray. That's the problem I have with so many people in the Panthers and Hornets fanbase. It's like they want to lose and tell you how they were right all along that Cam or Kemba sucks or whoever.

    • I'm more curious if he can recover from his injury and still be a starting caliber olineman
    • Does this mean only topics from within the last year or any topics with posts from the last year? i.e. if there are any old threads we feel should be kept around for whatever reasons, would a bump of that thread before the update ensure it's kept around in full or do the posts from more than a year old still disappear?
    • I'm more intrigued at him becoming our future LG. There were some people who thought he was better suited to be a guard in the NFL to begin with.  Then if Freeling ends up being a legit LT, moving Ickey to LG could give us an incredibly strong left side of our OL for years to come. Ickey has only played on the Left side his whole career, both in college and the NFL, so I just wonder if keeping him on the left side, even if shifting inside, would be better than putting him outside on the right side. Just hoping him growing up a Panthers fan will make him want to stay here and move positions than enter FA so he can stay at LT somewhere else, particularly since LT is the big money position on the OL, so he likely can get paid more by someone else to play LT than play LG or RT here for us.
