Wat Cardinal fans are saying

Like every fanbase, there seems to be a number of idiots as well some resonable folks.

In the playoffs it is about momentum and getting hot at the right time. Carolina (4 in a row), Seattle (6 in a row), and Dallas (4 in a row) are hot right now.

Can Newton is going to have a monster day against us. Lindley will throw about 4 picks two for tuddies.

We had a great season and I enjoyed it.

If your looking at this game without your Cardinal goggles Carolina is the favourite.

Cam is a nightmare much like Wilson and Kaep in terms of keeping the play going. They have a good running game so it's going to be tough.

Carolina's corners are better then the scrubs the Whiners had in there. Lindley was decent at times against the Niners, he had GREAT protection (probably the best this year) AND we had a running game. All the ingredients were there for a QB to thrive. He threw a few good passes and some very terrible ones and that is what will kill the CArds saturday. Fans say "he shouldnt stare down his WR". Well that's what bad QB's do. And Ryan is a bad QB.

this guy lol

If we tighten down the D and it plays like it did before that side should be ok. If the O plays like it did against the Niners, that side of the ball should be ok also. The Panthrs D is no where near as good as the Niners. There Qb isn't near as fast and elusive as both Wilson and Kap.

I can actually see this as being an easy game if Lindley produces like he did yesterday. Minus the picks of course. We need to pound the ball more and cut back on all the passing attempts. Cut him back to at the most 30 passing attempts, and about 35 rushing attempts.

Any given sunday, and with each consecutive win or loss it becomes more likely that one of them is to give. All streaks come to an end at some point.

Carolina has won 4 in a row against some pretty bad teams, and all of them under .500

All season I expected us to lose just about every game. What I am saying is our team is a team that can really bring it, and they just might. I'm no longer going to find reasons why we should lose and just enjoy the week, stay positive and hope we get a shot at playing Seattle

This sounds like us last year

Of all the matchups we could have gotten, I think this is the most favorable... however, anything can happen.

The last time we got a home playoff game vs AZ it caused me to be depressed for 3 years afterward and it caused Jake Delhomme to lose his mind... so...

If, IF, we can play again like we did against NO and ATL, we can definitely win.

I have to be honest tho, Special Teams scare the crap out of me.

We're 7-8-1, I can't get mad at fans of an 11 win team thinking they've got a shot.  That said, I feel we are the better team right now, plus it's a home game.

The key will be getting an early lead.  Carolina is a team built to play with a lead, even a small one.  That way they focus on what the Panthers do best - running the football and rushing the QB to get sacks/turnovers.  I don't see this happening with Lindley as their starting QB but they HAVE to get the lead early.

I think their D could pose a challenge. Having a so-so QB really hinders them because I'm not so sure that "pounding the ball more" is going to be the ticket. Star Davis and Kuech really seem to be clicking right now in shutting down the run.

If only he was actually so-so. Lindley is downright fuging awful

I have nothing against Cardinals fans. There doesn't seem to be many of them and I haven't come across many that are annoying. Plus they have Buck who I'm still friends with on Facebook somehow.

All that said, I hope we beat them by a lot. I can't even begin to describe what that Jake Delhomme pickfest playoff game did to this organization and us fans. Gotta wash that stink off.

I said in the other thread.

The biggest key to winning this game is not allowing that defense to put up points on us.

If our defense and specifically that front 4 show up mean. Their qbs, whoever start, are going to fold and fast.

Yeah that worries me as well.

Their defense scoring, be it by returning a fumble for a TD or setting up their offense in Panther territory, is my biggest concern.  That and of course special teams. I still have nightmares from Cam's first game where Peterson returned the punt for a TD.

    • Let's be completely honest about this... Our WR room is AT and a bunch of question marks. Thielen is the only guy we know who knows the route tree completely, understands play calls and can regularly get open/beat close coverage when necessary. He's long in the tooth, isn't the speediest guy on the field but he plays like a pro, starting level wide receiver. Xavier, last season looked great at first, but man he kind of petered out down the stretch and would disappear in a number of games. He wasn't reliable on routes or getting open and where he was supposed to be a king at contested catches, he often looked a bit intimidated. I'm not saying he's a washout by any means. Anyone with his size, speed and catch radius could make it big in the NFL, but can he do it? He'll need to show more than he did in the preseason before we can really rely on him as a WR1 or WR2.  Coker was a revelation last season, he really played way above his (non)draft status and flashed multiple times in games and was a steady performer. What we need to find out, though, is whether he was benefiting from being an unknown that wasn't getting maximum effort from opposing DBs or if he was just outworking and outhustling everyone on the field. We should find out this season. We sure as hell didn't find out much in the pre-season (from him or any receiver or QB for that matter). He's still a question mark, but I think he has the look of the real deal. He might be this generation's next Thielen. Now, let's talk about Tet. High first round draft pick, first true WR off the board this year. Stellar career out west in college. Has the swagger of the WR1. And man, y'all are going to get mad about this but... he comes across as a mook. And in the pre-season he performed, well, not so great against poor opposition of second and third stringers. Yeah, he caught that one moonshot ball in the first game but really, nothing else lighting the place up. Rookie endzone drop in that game, too. He's still young and adjusting, I'm sure, but I was hoping to see something of a breakthrough kind of guy. I'm still looking. Hunter Renfro? Gosh, I hope he can make the team and make a comeback to his old form. It would be such a great story. But maybe neither one of those happens. We won't know until Tuesday and then, if he makes it past there it could be weeks. So, TL;DR: AT is all we can bank on right now. We couldn't afford to let him go considering the number of unknowns we'd be throwing out there for our QB, who himself is still an unknown. One thing to add: Our receivers coaching group has their work cut out for them. I hope they are up to the task, but the pre-season gave me little reason to believe in them. And I really need something to believe in here in Carolina.
    • Same I think Randsom is a baller..... hopefully we don't have to suffer through 4-8 games of Scott blowing azz to get him on the feild.
    • Linebacker is the biggest need - I hope we figure out a way to address it. Krys Barnes is the only one who even moderately flashed.  Super nervous about Trevin/Rozeboom as a duo (Still like Trevin) I'd be excited if we had a better vet to mentor Trevin.  Or a better younger guy to support Rozeboom.  They just don't fit well and it may be a big problem against the run, even with our DL much improved.
