RR press conference

DWill got pissed at someone on twitter this week said "stay hurt, Deangelo" because it was about his health. I think I agree with most. I don't want the guy hurt, i just don't want him on the field and there is a difference.

Wouldn't Fozzy also be active because of kickoff returns or would they sit him for Williams and give all returns to Bersin?

If you give Williams Fozzy's spot....Ron should be fired.

Really not much different than playing DeCoud over Boston. Doesn't matter if injury dictated it initially or not

Don't be surprised if he does play and has a decent game. He's coming back to a hot team and an O-Iine that is playing much better than when he left. If he can get up field I think he can find some yards against the cardinals run D.

If he plays the most likely scenario is he plays like the 31 yr old average RB he is....

Then a few will pretend to be in shock acting like the OL didn't show up. Bc it is simply the OL and not the face 28 is presently a superior runner

We get behind early....and the AZ D does what it does when you get forced to the pass (see last year)

I'm not saying he will start or even get the majority of carries...that would be stupid. I'm saying as a change of pace back he's a better option than Tolbert if we are going to run on 2nd and long or 2nd and medium. He's also a better option on screens in the open field. I could see him playing decently and being another weapon for a team to worry about. Sort of like Edgerrin James had that burst of success in the 09 playoffs with the cardinals at the end of his career.

Relax.

Could it be Rivera is just using coach fodder? Or would you rather have Rivera said: "Fug Deangelo he sucks". You guys realize Stewart, Tolbert, and Dlo are all really close-knit friends right? How would a negative remark impact the rest of the team about one of their teammates. I think Rivera is just being politically correct here. Now come Saturday and the offense comes out on the field for the 1st series and I see #34 trotting out there with Stew on the sideline I will flip poo.

Plus, for the few "DWill will now look like that guy who played 6 years ago thanks to our new OL" crowd.....

The past few weeks we are heavy shotgun/read....which is again, something 28 does better than most RBs. Williams has never meshed well in that

On top of that Stewart creates the threat of the RB actually being able to do damage from Shotgun and opens things up for Cam early in the games. Which in turns opens up the game for the RB's later in the game. Williams has yet to show in this system that he can run effective from it. He's hit a few big runs, but those were purely because of the option game.

Like it has been all year, the guy who is most effective will get the carries. If Stewart can't work the middle then they might try DeAngelo around the end. Especially if it is wet. We might need all hands on deck if we have to rely on the run. I also liked the way Whitaker ran at the end of the game.

On Rivera's quote about DeAngelo and chemistry, you guys need to relax. It's pure coachspeak. He's not gonna say that a career Panther playing would mess with our chemistry or it'd become a distraction and the media would make a story out of it.

Agree, plus would you rather have AZ game planning for 1 primary RB's or 2? It's the playoffs. Someone on the staff of the other team plays close attention to what the opposing coach says.

What Rivera actually said about Ted Jr:

David Newton @DNewtonespn 9h9 hours ago

Rivera when asked if he has a strategy for former #Panthers kick returner Ted Ginn Jr. "You guys are killing me.'' Short answer. Yes.

So, yes, Ron Rivera does do coachspeak.

Speaking of Tolbert, I wonder if losing weight last offseason didnt help him. He's no faster and seems to have lost some power.

I like the looks we can run with him in the backfield, but Whittaker should be getting his touches.

He lost weight? looks like he lost muscle and got fat. He literally looks like someone they just pulled out of the stands and he plays like that someone too.

He has been slow, sluggish, jiggly, poweless, ..it really grinds my gears when we feed him the ball to watch him tumble over for no yards.

    • Sure if you just blindly look at stats, you can pinpoint a couple areas that look similar. But come on man that's lazy analysis. Instead of throwing lower percentage throws, Dalton held onto the ball unconscionably long, leading to several of those sacks including that unthinkable one at the end of the first half, inflating his completion percentage. Bryce for all his flaws, does a pretty good job of escaping pressure and scrambling for 5 yards or throwing it away. Dalton's pocket presence was just so incredibly bad today, which led to both of his lost fumbles. If Bryce would just hold onto the ball and get sacked every 3rd play instead of throw it away or try a contested pass, his completion percentage would be 15 points higher than Dalton's today. And Bryce only had more yardage in 3 of 7 games? You mean when we played run heavy schemes in our wins, instead of Dalton being forced to throw all game cause we're getting blown out?  Look anyone is more than justified in arguing Bryce Young doesn't have the tools to lead this team to a super bowl. But he has been head and shoulders better this year than what Dalton showed today. That was just an abysmal perfomance.
    • 100% correct.    we also have a team that is completely incapable of responding to adversity. The first sign of trouble and the team just unravels. I think that says a lot about coaching more than anything. It can also be explained with the amount of youth we have playing key roles on offense and defense.
    • He's not elevating anyone around him and will never be that kind of qb. He is what he is. He will always need a good team around him to play his best. His best is not a game changer but game manager. If you accept that then you will understand what the outlook is going forward.
