I checked the list of free agents safeties and there really isn't anyone else out there. May have to bring Sherrod Martin back over to safety or rely on Teal.

Off the subject but did anyone else see ole Gary Gibson STARTING for the Rams? He didn't look that great but I thought that was kinda funny.

Unbelievable, by the way, about how quickly some of you are giving up on a second year safety based upon two meaningless exhibition games.

I don't know that anyone is giving up on him - he was very solid at the start of last year. However, this year is not last year and the little bit that he's shown has not been good and now he's hurt; time to find someone else to play while he can't.

Charles Godfrey needs to go back to corner. He has sucked as a safety in the NFL regardless of injury trouble. The experiment to move him is a tenuous one at best at this point.

Kevin Kaesviharn at least gives us a player that has started in the league prior to signing with us. He may not make any great plays, but he'll tackle what's in front of him and that's more than Godfrey and the rest of our secondary has been doing this preseason.... Harris included which is shocking.

Jason Carter was obviously jumped on the depth chart by Kenneth Moore for that 4th WR slot. In fact, it wouldn't shock me to see Carolina only carry 4 WR and carry King, Barnidge, Rosario, and Davie on the squad and line up Barnidge or Rosario in five wide situations. Goodson could be a possibility there too.

This cut is certainly good news for Moore. I think it means he's made the team.

The signing of Kaesviharn is roughly the equivalent of signing Eugene Robinson a few years back (i.e. not much out there, pick up a vet and hope he can fill a gap or two and be a good influence on the young guys).

That said, I wouldn't assume Kaesviharn makes the final roster just because he's a vet. A lot can happen between now and final cuts.

    • Having trouble finding all these articles saying the Raiders withheld information. Here’s the latest from Crosby’s surgeon: ElAttrache told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday morning that Crosby was "doing very well in the early part of his rehab and recovery from surgery to treat a significant meniscus tear and the related stress injury to the bone and cartilage in his knee. He is certainly on track in his planned program." "We truly respect the work of the Ravens' staff with Maxx regarding the contract physical exam. We also understand the challenge the staff faces when tasked to provide a future risk assessment based on an evaluation early in the recovery process," ElAttrache said. "This is especially challenging when dealing with an elite player like Maxx considering the level of commitment necessary for a team to obtain him. The timing of this assessment is unfortunate because the apparent risk will lessen as his recovery progresses and his return to performance over the next few months becomes clear."     So the Ravens excuse is the future risk assessment based on the physical, not that the Raiders withheld information. They found an excuse to save face publicly. They had the right to cancel the trade for no reason at all, but they’re trying to save face with the most acceptable reasoning they can find. I’ve heard and seen the Ravens getting dragged everywhere for this. You know what would be an easy way to put a stop to that if you’re the Ravens and the Raiders were actually the shady ones withholding information? Just come out and say that you were not given all the medical information. But they aren’t saying that. I guess they’re just taking the bullet for the Raiders just because?    Speculation indeed.
    • Two first round picks for a guy with very questionable knees who will be 29 this summer. Yes it is safe to say the Ravens got cold feet.
    • The salary cap is the reason we got Phillips and Lloyd
