The entire crew is picking Carolina to win Saturday, even Boomer Esiason who was calling for a re-seeding after our win in Atlanta. The common theme among all of them was that Ryan Lindley won't be able to deal with our improved defense and that Arizona will struggle to stop Cam.

really hate this. Esiason, BTW, is as bad as it gets in NFL commentary. 

 

This is gonna be an old school football game. I could see it being something like 17-6. They CANNOT let the Cards establish ANY sort of running game. I know Andre Ellington is out, but if for some reason the Panthers front 7 doesn't show up and the Cardinals bad offensive line does - it's gonna make the game a lot easier on Lindley and could cost us the game.

Hopefully the L to the 9ers last season will help them this year. Last season, they played the "We get no respect" card and every interview I saw...I heard a panthers player talking about "we get no respect, we are a home under dog, nobody is expecting us to win" etc....well this year it's different. You are a big home favorite and many "experts" (and I use that term very lightly, especially with Boomer Esiason being mentioned) are expecting you to win. If they play like they've played the past couple of weeks they should be able to take care of business but Arians is most def the better coach.

Panthers are notorious for giving no name guys a breakout game. I still remember the Reuben Droughns game. I recall Andre Brown a few years ago. I'm sure many of you can add to the list.

one of the things that has bugged me the most about this fanbase and even this team from time to time is this obsession with being the underdog.

 

newsflash...you can't be great and be an underdog.

 

 

play king of the hill. be the big dog that makes it to the top and stake your claim. take it as yours and fend off everyone who wants to take over your hill.

 

enough of this trying to live under the radar. once you start winning consistently, you are no longer the underdog. you are no longer under the radar.

 

do you guys want to win consistently or do you want to be perennial underdogs always under the radar? and if you say you want to wait until we have a better team...well, you are always going to be waiting. you know why? likely because you're scared of success and/or afraid of losing success and feel it's better to have never attained it than to have it and lost it.

 

we have reached a point in the new season where everyone is 0-0. all that matters is what your team is doing now and this team looks as good as any team in the playoffs. sure, some are scary, but so are we. our defense is finally clicking again, the OL is gelling and giving cam protection and opening holes for the run game. the WRs and TEs are gelling with cam (and yes, there are drops, but there are also big plays being made) and cam is looking as good as he ever has.

 

point is, we have a shot and we look good. when things are clicking, there's no hiding how lethal this team can be on both sides of the ball. sure, we have our issues, but what championship team doesn't?

 

don't be afraid to feel good about our chances and don't take other people's confidence in our team as a bad omen. people believe what the panthers can do. how is that a bad thing? that means that they are doing the right things. feel good about that. if they can see it, why can't you?

I agree I just feel that some in the fanbase including myself is basing this feeling on past experience. I hope like hell any doubt will be removed by halftime.

      You could say that-- but if we don't need a starting OT this year, why would you draft a flawed one that is not going to play? (We are coming from different underlying assumptions and perspectives--I see your argument and don't disagree with the premise) Your thinking is based on the assumption that an OT for the future is more important than immediate needs at other positions, or that we can meet other needs in later rounds even if we take the OT in round 1.  I do not think there is but 1 OT worthy of a first-round grade---they are mocked based on need and demand--if we do not have a need for a starter right now, a team at 18 may grab a T that is the 33rd best player--worth it if you have no starting T, but not if you have a starter.  So just because they are mocked around the middle of the first it does not mean that the players are good values--teams get desperate.  QBs are a great example.  Simpson may be worth it in round 1 for the Cardinals, but not the Jets, because they have Geno Smith.  Sure, they will need a QB by next year, but taking Simpson is a reach. I do not see our need, with 2 starters (Walker and Moton) and another possibly returning by the end of the season enough to justify ranking OT over positions like Safety, Will LB--I do not think we replaced A Shawn Robinson (We gonna put a NT out there?  Wharton (280lbs)?  So do we reach in round 1 for a player who may not play much or do we get a Will LB that can cover?  A deep free safety?  A quality center? A playmaking TE?  A DT to replace Robinson?  A wide receiver to balance the secondary?  Long term, if the right player was there, you would be right.  Short term, OT is a luxury at this point, in my view.

      We arent switching. Evero is 3-4 to the core. Given how 3-4 has been a noticeable characteristic of top defenses recently and we have drafted and signed players fir it  I dont know why anyone would think that's a good idea
