Essay DeAngelo Wrote on the Plane

The only thing wrong with this argument is that you're treating both"the owner" and "the players" as if they are only two people rather than, in most cases, one guy and 53 guys.

I'll tell you what....take out a loan or invest you own life savings in an unproven new business, work hard and build the brand for 50 years until you turn that investment in a multimillion dollar company. Once you do that, I'll come along and ask if you're paying your employees the vast majority of the money your company is earning. Sheesh....

Even if the players made 80 percent of the total, the owner would be left with hundreds of millions of dollars. And don't think for one second that the nfl is their only source of income. That is preposterous.

i'm torn.

it was a well-written article… but it screamed me me me me me, as did all the pictures of himself he laced through it pointlessly.

he brought up some good points about the changing nature of fan-player interaction… but it screams bad timing. not that players can't take a six-hour flight to write an essay without losing focus, but why this, why now? why not save it for the offseason?

Whats preposterous is how easily you give away other people's money. When YOU'RE the one giving away hundreds of millions of YOUR dollars....then you may feel differently.

Exactly that's my whole gripe against it.  Even though as humans I don't expect him to literally spend every breath watching game film.  But still just fake it like you are 100% zoned on this game.

There is no need for this article right now before the biggest game of the season and of many of their careers.

D-Will.... please kill the Seahawks tonight.

I'm not saying that I would give my poor man's salary away, but some men have enough money for sox generations of grand children. There is no need for it. And he wouldn't be giving it away necessarily, he would be making less. Which is still a whole lot more money than we could even imagine.

It's a player driven league. Pay them like it is.

It's a worthy topic but at an unworthy time. And it's very very self serving. I can't help but wonder why Deangelo is checking his mentions after a poor performance. He's a 31 year old man, he knows how people feel after a loss. He probably hears some poo in his own locker room.

For better or worse we want our players to play and our writers to write. He should have published this in the off season. Maybe he chose to do it now because he expects to be released and is not guaranteed to find a new job.

It is just a blog post. Arent all blogs self serving? I dont get the issues some are having with it. Dont pretend you wouldnt think it was awesome if Newton did something similar. This reaction is simply because he hasnt played well this season.

yeah, use the soapbox while you can, cuz there could be a time coming soon for DW when nobody is watching reading or listening.
