Catch or No Catch?

I hate watching football when the Panthers lose especially in the playoffs, but want to take a moment away from Panthers' football to ask if Dez Bryant's catch complete or was it incomplete?

By rule it's incomplete, but it's a terrible rule. Lions have gotten screwed out of games because of it, it's happened to Megatron at least a dozen times.

It didn't look to me like it actually hit the ground. Looks like it was in the crook of his arm but I never saw anything that showed it actually hit the ground.  Doesn't matter if it moves if it doesn't hit the ground per say imo.

I mean, if you know you're falling to the ground, secure it instead of trying to extend.  He did tap 3 feet down but it was all in the act of falling while making a football rule.  Right on the cusp of a completion.

it was incomplete.  I didnt find that as bizarre as the pass interference challenge earlier.  You cant challenge a penalty but GB found a way to do so.  It didnt get over turned but still.

It's a bad rule, just like division winners automatically getting a playoff spot.

I'm no ref, but don't you just need 2 steps and a football move such as running toward? He extended his arm out for the TD too. Funny how karma works though lol

It did hit the ground. The close up shot in the link shows it. That's what popped it up in the air. So the ruling was that he didn't maintain control for a completed pass.

Here's the rule:

 

"If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete."

I thought he took two good steps before falling to the ground. IMO it should have been a completed pass. But as someone said. Karma is a bitch.

I thought last week homer call was terrible. Worst call I have seen in the playoffs since New Orleans got handed the NFC title against Minnesota.
