We Desperately Need Another WR

We could definitely use a new FS and SS. The knock on Tre Boston was that he would get beat and let people get behind him occasionally. Well...it looks like he has not fixed that problem. I know he's young but if we have a chance to get another good young FS or a shot at a FA I hope we bring them in.

Thoughts on Philly Brown? Has looked really solid the last half of the season. Possibly #2 material in my opinion.

#3 or #4 at best.  Guy is also made of glass, I don't think he'll last a full season.

Not even sure KB is true #1 material but more of a #2.  Lots of garbage time stats on his sheet and lots of dropped balls when it counts.  He will get better though.

We just need more speed and sure hands to compliment KB.

Outside of KB and Philly we need new receivers.  Cotchery will most likely be out of here and the Bersin experiment is over with.

With that said, I don't agree with bringing in a small shifty/quick receiver like so many seem to want.  I'd like a taller, balanced and physical receiver.  He can be fast but you don't need 4.3 <6' to "compliment KB.  Just another good receiver that can catch balls thrown at Cam's velocity.

I find Tony Lippett an interesting fit for us in the draft.  Fast enough for my taste, strong route runner with one of his best qualities being moves to gain separation, fights for YAC and goes up to get the ball.

Royal would be a strong fit in a similar role like he had behind Floyd/Gates in SD and we finally get a legit PR.

I think Philly has a future here but he strikes me as more of a shifty slot guy who can usually get open 10 yards downfield against a nickel CB or safety and then maybe make something happen afterwards.  He could also continue to have success on screens and the occasional reverse.   I know he had a couple of nice deep catches this year but he just doesn't seem best suited to consistently run deep patterns against the other teams best CB's.

Having said that if he turns into nothing more than a guy who can fill kind of a Welker/Edelman role in this offense that would be fuggin great.  Of course, we are going to need a new OC for that to ever happen.

I know our focus in the draft last year was WR first (which caught a lot of people off guard) but I think we need to address it again this year. Maybe not go #1 with it but definitely try to bring in someone who can compliment KB

nobody was surprised we went WR with our 1st R pick last draft. I think what caught people off guard was that we only took one WR last draft, as deep as it was at WR.

Ideally, we need 3 WRs to compliment KB and another TE to compliment Olsen. But yeah, we desperately need at least one good/solid #2 (like what the Colts have with Wayne) if not a very good #2 (like Matt Ryan has in Roddy White, Stafford has with Golden Tate, Manning has with Emmanuel Sanders, Romo has with Terrance Williams, Cutler has with Brandon Marshall, Eagles have with Jordan Matthews, Redskins have with Pierre Garcon, etc.

But again, ideally we also need a solid #3 and #4 like the Colts have in Hakeem Nicks and young Moncrief (3rd R last draft), or like the Seahawks have in young Paul Richardson (2nd R last draft) and young Kevin Norwood (4th R last draft), or what the Steelers have with Martavis Bryant (4th R last draft) or Markus Wheaton (3rd R draft before last) plus Darrius Heyward-Bey, etc

Even better, we need three guys that are pretty much great #1s like the Packers have in Nelson/Cobb/Adams (all 3 were 2nd R picks)

Another good TE would be luxury, but would be awesome

Let's get rid of Shula, start getting some more recievers, and go to a wide open aerial bombardment passing offense. It would be so fun to see Cam in an offense like that. I know, i know, ball control offense, give the D time to rest, keep the opposing offense off the field, but consider the following: the Colts were Top 5 in time of possession this year:

Being able to catch is very important and is something none of is taking for granted among our WR group at this point.  A guy who can also stretch the field and/or knows how to get open is gravy, baby!!

Need LT, #2 WR (say what u will about KB, he is a #1), and a SS. Needs after that may be OLB, o-line depth, RB, and a KR/PR.

People got their feathers all ruffled when I called KB a WR2 or 1-2 hybrid earlier in the season.  Even at that point, I told them that I didn't think it was a bad thing. Some still whined.  The fact is, whether you believe Benjamin is a #1 or #2---or somewhere in between---is really immaterial at the end of the day.  We need another WR who is a big play threat, has consistent hands, can complement the offense, and can take over the game.  Why would we want anything less?

I mean everyone knows that we need a WR (or two...or three), so why wouldn't we want that WR to be a WR1---whatever the definition?

A major improvement at TE2 is very appealing at this point.  If we commit to more double TE formations, that would be a huge asset almost as much as another WR depending on our offensive competence.
