cap experts, comment on this

Captain Morgan

According to ESPN's Roster Management, Carolina is $9,660,153 under the cap. That could grow by at least $5 million, depending on personnel decisions and where the 2015 cap number is set.

We know Getty wants to address need in FA, and draft BPA.   This year, our number one need  is LT.  And the LT free agent market sucks.

Yes we need WR and lots of other things, and I have no problem taking the bpa.  It just worries me that it could very easily be a situation where we don't draft a lt (would love to draft a rt to battle with our current guys), but realistically, how good a starting

lt could we get in FA?

You are probably looking at a 30 year old who wants to play 2-3 more years.  That is probably the target guy

then you try to bring in guys from the draft and guys like Remmer to make sure you have a 10 year starter by the time this FA leaves

I don't really know how accurate any of these online cap sites are.  Looking at Spotrac, you could figure we could have upwards of $18 mil. + to work with with only about 5.5 million in dead money.

For any current cap figures I'm automatically taking D-Will off of it so I believe that's around another 2 mil. in savings toward next season.

Also with the LT market--you have to consider as bad as it could be, they're likely still an improvement over Bell.

Roos.

Don't hold your breath.

Roos is the only obvious LT in FA right now that's even worth acquiring.

Titans tackle Michael Roos has played 10 NFL seasons and 148 career games.

As he cleaned out his locker Monday at Saint Thomas Sports Park, it sure sounded like he's played his last game.

"That's a very strong consideration for (me not playing again)," Roos said. "It has been 10 years and it's been a lot of fun, but mentally it starts taking a drain on you sometime, so we'll see.

"I can't complain about 10 years … and I was healthy all the way up until the 10th year."

Roos, 32, said he plans to take the offseason to make a final decision. He's still a few months away from being able to test the knee in football activities. Roos acknowledged it's "over 50" percent he'll retire, but he said that could change.

BTW those PFF ratings are kind of dumb. guys that played 30 snaps with a -3 could be ranked over him. We all know Bell isn't a star but he's not 83rd either. He could have ranked better simply by being benched. Or sitting out hurt.

I get what you are saying, but he's still gonna be ranked 31st out of 32 starting LTs.

Wonder how high Fitz's price tag will be. Most likely out of our comfort zone.

If Fitz leaves arizona, I imagine he'll want to go to a place he thinks he could contend right away while he could. Probably somewhere like Green Bay, if they lose Cobb.

    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
    • 5 Im glad football is back but after the embarrassment that was the browns pre season game where our starting D made Sanders look like a serviceable NFL QB, I lost hope again for a successful Panthers campaign this year.  I do hope I’m wrong!
