2015 Dead Money

Not bad!

Didn't we have close to $27M in dead cap last season?

Edit: yep. found it. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/cap/

So with dead cap + Hardy's tag......The Panthers paid out close to $40M to players, to not play for us. ?

Not exactly. Dead money is the effect on the cap of prorated bonuses payed in the past. Mostly up front signing bonuses. The team didnt really pay that money in 2014. Its the cap effect of past signing bonus of players no longer on the roster.

Smith would be getting 10 million in 2015............... 10,000,000

His hate fueled early season numbers died after the panther game. Now the ravens talking like they want him in the 3/4 WR role...... for the low price of 3 million. Brown sure looks good @ 500,00 compared to that. I'm shocked smitty didn't miss gameS, given at least once a game he needs the training staff to come help him.

    • At this point the Tepper's seem to be leading you around by the nose based on how much time you spend carrying water for them so I'm not surprised you're struggling. We are the only team who saw fit to install Andy Dalton with his zero career playoff wins as a culture cornerstone and a key mentor. Even the putrid Saints wanted no parts of that. Truth hurts 🤷‍♂️
    • They have drafted two QB's since they took Hurts in the 2020 Draft. Tanner McKee(6th - 2023) and Kyle McCord(6th - 2025). In that span we have drafted Bryce Young(1st - 2023) and Matt Corral(3rd - 2022). Technically, we have invested significantly higher draft capital on QB's(albeit one less than they). It's not the investement that is the issue, it's the results. Corral was literally not a rosterable player with a THIRD ROUND PICK. We gave up a king's ransom for Bryce to basically get Davis Mills results(so far).
    • No QB from the draft or free agency was going to change this being a losing season for us. I mean we’re rebuilding, everything we’re doing is meant to be for winning tomorrow.
