Breaking News - Gettlemagic Selects Defensive End on the first Round.

Would love to see a huge run on DEs in the first causing some of the better OTs to slide down to us.  Not really expecting that to happen but boy would I love it if it did.

As to Gordon, as long as it wasn't in Round One, I wouldn't scream.

We always paint the worst-case scenario in the draft-if we are looking WR, DE, and OT--we should have a good player "drop" to us.  While Gettlemen has said BPA, he has to know the OT market in free agency and the depth of the draft.  He also has to remember the 22 games (preseason, playoffs) this team played with no genuine, starting Offensive Tackles on the roster.  I think OT was overdrafted--and has been for the past few years.  However, Eric Fisher, Lane Johnson, Jake Matthews, Glenn Robinson, etc. have proven to be picks not worth a top 16 investment.  Skill players, QBs, DEs, WRs, etc. are probably worth the cost in the early first round, but lately, OL have not been that smart.  Some have been moved to RT, to G, or have struggled.  I am hoping that an awareness of this, coupled with the fact that there are no real studs--no home runs--in this year's draft.  I think Peat or Flowers will be the first T taken, but Scherff's Zack Martin comparison may be a compliment that causes him to slide into "elite guard" territory--in the second round.  La'el Collins is fighting the same criticism--many teams will wait for a G in the second round if they have discounted his T ability.  Cam Erving was a first-round T prospect who may slip into the second round as a versatile center.  Sambrailo is too weak and misshapen; Clemmings is too raw and has RT experience only.  Ogbeuhi's stock dropped with his play this year; some say he was trying to protect himself from injury this year, which is the reason he did not stay at LT.  Then he ripped up his knee in the bowl game and his stocked dropped again.  Fisher is being pigeon-holed as a RT, but I think he can play LT.  Not sure about his arm length, however.  Donovan Smith has the rep for being lazy.

There are a lot of characters in play, and i am sure we do our homework.  Rumors can scare the lesser GMs, so we shall see how well we out-research our competition.

I really like Remmers, but he was not much in the run blocking dept.  He would be great depth, able to play both sides.  I really want to see 2 OTs brought in.

If I am Seattle, I pay Cam Chancellor top dollar. He is the one member of the defense they cannot lose. I am guessing he will bring $10m per year, like the deal they gave Earl Thomas. If they don't pay it, we should.

Earl Thomas.....$10 million per season

Richard Sherman.....$13.5 million per season

Russell WIlson........$25 million per season (estimated)

Cam Chancellor.....$10 miliion (estimated--is more valuable than Thomas)

That is crazy---4 players, nearly $60 million dollars per season. This is what Hurney did when we were 2-14.

Odd man out: Marshawn Lynch.....$7-8m (estimated-he wants more, Seattle can't give it to him--he is not getting Cam Chancellor's money.)

Game plan vs. Seattle: Run Run Run.

If they lose Lynch, they will see how overpaid Wilson is. WOW,

Hey they can pay all that if they want to. Im rooting them on.

3 years from now everyone will ask if theres still a football team in Seattle and maybe we get Pete Carroll,...

Kam Chancellor, hes like the one free agent that I say go get that guy if it takes 8 million year so be it.

Unless of course the GentleSage drafts an even better version.

If there was a guy there like that for our 1st pick,..take him.

We could make no other additions on defense (not ideal, of course) and improve dramatically.  I would pay him $9m.  Of course, Seattle, giddy about the success that has eluded them since about 1976, gave his cousin Earl $10 and Sherman even more, so Kam would not take $8 in Seattle.  He shouldn't.  Kam is the best player on that defense.  The one player they cannot do without.

Gonna make Russell Wilson the highest paid QB in the league.  Go Hawks!

If the Seahawks manage to pay all of that and still go to the playoffs next year,....

Im yelling CAP GATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!  paying those guys under the table or something.  You cant pay 4 guys making 60 million a year and win out.  No such thing as impossible,.. but improbable to say the least.  Doug Baldwin, Wagner, Irvin and company are all going to want their skittles too,.....

Kam Chancellor,.. come on down. Torrey Smith,.. we've been missing a Smith on our Roster for a season and its time to get it back.   Just put Smith I on the Jersey.

On  a serious note, we need a return man more than any team Ive ever heard of, which is why I like Eddie Royal-- get some Ginn like 4.39 combine speed  but without the Ginn hands of stone.  Dude did 24 reps of 225 at 184 pounds too.  Hes a poor mans Steve Smith.

I'm not seeing the problem with what he said there

we're pretty much already on the hook for Johnson's contract, we just renegotiated his contract last year(during the preseason or early season I believe). We gave him more guaranteed money in it as the trade off. basically already giving away much of our ability for future neg or to even cut him.

That's why

You know that the Hawks have all of their key defensive players already locked down (sans Wagner) and still have ample cap space next year right?
