4 Things Greg Hardy Must Do to Remain a Panther

If Hardy is found not guilty I hope he takes the tiime to wake Mr. Richardson up and tells him to kiss him dead on his arse. It would be nice to have a owner more dedicated to his own franchise than to the NFL brand.

 

A skit, to be presented by second graders at an upcoming NOW conference:

 

(Curtain opens.  Jerry Richardson and Greg Hardy are sitting on a love seat, enjoying hot tea.  Hardy's team of lawyers, paid for by PSL owners, have just left, celebrating the acquittal.)

 

Mr. Richardson:  I am sorry, Greg.  I should have been more understanding.  Here is a contract for $60 million.  Can you ever forgive me?

 

Greg:  Can I still date and slap crack whores-in self defense (laughing)-- and maintain my collection of assault rifles--again, for self defense purposes? (laughing harder).

 

(intermission)

 

Mr. Richardson:  Of course you can, Greg.  That is the image I want for this team, by the way.  I think your jersey sales are going to sky rocket after this verdict is announced.  And since your behavior is something that we can all depend on, I am going to ask Dave to make that contract fully guaranteed.  I mean, what are the odds that something like this could happen again?  Hug?

(Greg nods and leans toward Mr. Richardson's outreached arms)

Not merely a "speech" (it was written) when you value character--some can't even recognize it or attribute the role it actually plays in success.  The point was to make connections for the people who cannot see its value.  It was evident here, for those who value character and have ever played the game, it was obvious. 

 

If you think Seattle's contracts are beyond criticism, just say so.  I think they are being stupid. 

 

I don't think character is put at a premium in Seattle. I think it is here.

You don't but Seattle's defense with Michael Bennett is a lot better without him.  

 

Will we be fine without Hardy?  Probably.  Our front seven is extremely talented and I like the upside in our secondary.  Our defense is even better with Hardy, though.

 

We don't need him nor do we need to throw buckets of cash at him.  I wouldn't be in support of that.  However, if we could bring him back on a cheap deal, I don't see why we wouldn't look into it.  Hardy makes our team better.

 

NOTE - This is not me saying Hardy will be back even if we were open to returning on a cheap deal.  I'm not going to get into a discussion about that.  What I am saying is that our defense is much improved with Hardy on the field.  He is a top flight pass rusher.

Also, finding a secondary as good as Seattle's is extremely difficult.  Of course they can get away with lesser play from their DEs.  Still, they go from being a great defense to an historical defense because of how good their pass rushers are.  Their lack of pass rush is why they lost to the Falcons in 2012 and why they went out and signed Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett in 2013 and both had a huge impact on the Super Bowl last year and Bennett in particular wrecked havoc in New England's backfield all night.

I agree, which is why I'm against throwing a lot of money at Hardy.  I'm with you on that we don't need him but I also believe that he does in fact make our defense that much better, which is why I would want us to look into bringing him back if the deal was cheap.

BUT, if he apologized, is found innocent, and wants to play on a short/cheap deal (fully guarantee it if need be), let him come back. Say for instance, 2 years, 8-10 million (just guarantee half of it if GMan is wary)...I mean, that's a helluva deal for Carolina, something the Kraken can live with, and a chance to prove himself.

I can't believe there's so much negativity. We are a much better team with GH, period. No one knows 100% one way or another so speaking with certainty at this point is moot. If he's found innocent we should at least try to bring him back.

I think that he will end up in Oakland. There is just no way all of that is happening. I wouldn't give 13 million back. You just don't know what can happen at any moment in this very violent sport. His career could end on any play and leave him with nothing. I think that is a request that will never happen and I totally understand and I am not even angry. Everything else could happen but the returning of the huge payday that he received this season.

Trust is difficult to regain once lost particularly when those decisions affect others

I don't really care his innocence or guilt

He put himself in extremely compromised positions. Not to mention having various firearms in that condo at the time

We are just damned lucky that this didn't morph into a very very bad situation as seldom does anything good come of emotion, jealousy and alcohol and who knows about drugs combined with firearms.

Not looking forward to his trial. . For the two seconds of positive press Thomas Davis got, this bonehead will be all over the news outlets again for weeks.

And he shouldn't be asked to give money back either that's ridiculous. Just take a bit less next year and keep playing. Very bad idea.
