Jerry Richardson sure is consistent in getting rid of troublemaking players immediately!

It's almost as if we have a different GM running the team now.

Wow. When did that happen?

If Gettleman is a man that will punish innocent players just because they dared to be associated with something that tarnishes our "great" image then he certainly isn't the kind if man I want running this team.

Punish? Did he put Hardy in football jail?   Hardy got paid a boatload of money to not play football for us.  I don't see where we punished him in anyway shape or form.  Gettleman is making a business decision, and maybe the correct one.  Only time will tell if he is right though.

Paid 13 million to do nothing...

Where do I go to get 'punished' like that?

Richardson bowed to the media,   he was scared of his team and the NFL shield getting tarnished               Before the media went on a crusade against Hardy  Richardson and Goodell didn't make a peep about Hardy or his situation

Had the Panthers deactivated Hardy for the first game,  before the media  went into full retard mode,  I would've had a little more respect for them    Doing it when they did it though,  just made it seem like they were cowering.         I love our team,  will always love the Panthers...  but I don't like how they handled it, I don't like how it seemed like they could be pushed around by outside forces,  like the national media.

I respect how the 9ers handled the same situation.     They essentially gave a big "F U" to Goodell and the national media.

To an extent youre right, both players were/are elite and lack good judgement.

Smitty had a ferocious temper which is what made him good on the field.  Never been arrested and kept his outbursts related to the team.  Never any domestics or dui's or the like.  Plus, smitty was a dedicated hard working football player who was more worried about his career than anything else besides his family.

Hardy appears to want to be famous.  That is what scares me.  Thats it.

Steve Smith was arrested on assault charges related to Anthony Bright. Case dismissed after he completed a program involving anger management which we saw work out so well post-2002...

I expected more from this thread. Don't say "track record" then pull two events from recent memory. Piss poor point that any Panther fan could have passed through their mind in 2 seconds.

I don't even know what this means. You put track record in quotes...there's no "track record" phrase used in my post.

    • If he really wants to be here, that can happen.  It's totally up to him.  Yes, he'll have to take a hometown discount to do it.  He'll have to show that the last two seasons were outliers and he hasn't become an injury risk. It will come down to money and how much of it he wants.  If he wants to be paid at the upper end of the scale, it won't and can't happen here.  When healthy, he deserves that kind of pay and if he wants it someone else will pay it. It can totally happen.  And it's totally in his court.
    • He was on the "sideline" during OTA or mini camp, Im sure there was some Twitter/X post but news just moves so fast now.  He's not getting the press as TMac or even Horn, but he is making plays. That's the other deal, Im a big fan of his!  Just in order to get great value you need to give value in return. I said he would have been a 3rd rounder in 2025 draft, he just had bad luck with injuries hurting his stock and coming out in a deep WR class.
    • I've always said that PFF is a tool. If you don't know how to use it, or don't want to know how to use it, then it's useless. But some people actually do know how to use it---which is why it still exists and is used by all 32 NFL teams---and part of this is putting it all within context----seeing the bigger picture. If you don't understand that not all players, develop at the same rate, have different levels of talent, have injuries that affect their play, and face different circumstances in regards to the opposition and coaching, for example, then I don't know what to tell you. Coaches set expectations based upon a variety of things, not only last year's stat sheet, which may have been brought about by dynamics that you, as a fan, may or may not understand. And even if you have some understanding of them, as a fan, you still will never have the clarity that they do---the concerns or the context that they do. As a fan, you should even be putting your lack of understanding their context, into context (and stop trying to act like you know something to be true based upon a bad season at the end of the day).
