"3. Brandon Marshall, Bears: Marshall's $7.5 million salary becomes fully guaranteed if he's on the roster by the third day of the league year -- March 12. He received no assurances about his future after meeting with the new regime. Marshall turns 31 next month and is coming off a disappointing season. Perhaps more importantly, the recent scuttlebutt out of Chicago is that his behavior rankled teammates and coaches last year. The rumor mill has connected the veteran receiver to former coordinator Marc Trestman, who landed in Baltimore."

I didn't say which Smith for a reason, because I'm not sure which will get the boot. (if either) I would imagine a Marshall/T. Smith combo would be quite effective. However, it depends on how highly Torrey thinks of Torrey. Just a little heads up for those lobbying for him to come to Carolina.

Also, this could be why they are pushing Smitty to reconsider playing again. It just looks like one may not be back. Something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

I don't see why they couldn't just move smitty to the slot no sense in forcing him to retire. Marshall/T. Smith on outside with smitty in the slot is about as good as you can ask for

Depends on the contracts of Marshall and Torrey. I'm not saying they would for sure let either go. I'm just saying it is a possibility if they can't come to terms. If they really wanted Marshall, and Torrey was asking for too much, he could be let go. And yes, the WR set would be great. Not saying anyone WILL get the boot, just that Marshall being in the mix could change the leverage. IMO. Just something to keep an eye out for.

Yeah, #89 has always been happy to take on a non-glamour role in any offense he participated in.

Man reason is because they know that they have to get younger and Steve doesn't allow them to do that.

He has said many times he'd love to just play in the slot but every season it seems he out plays that role and is forced to go back outside. I think he'd be ok with it especially if it meant prolonging his career just a little bit

sorry smitty..

if you're this age and your literally just trying to pad your stats just to have a chance to get in..

..maybe you don't deserve to to get in

I'm sure winning a super bowl is higher on his list.

And btw with all the sh*t he's had to deal with while playing here and he still has the numbers he does he most definitely deserves to get in

    • i think the difference is that we win when we minimize Bryce as part of the offense ala Trent dilfer. look at the games we win and he us always under 200 yards passing.
    • Which is also why we talk about there being a lower ceiling for Bryce I think Bryce sees the game decently well already given the mess this offence has been for the better part of his career. His big WTF plays are typically him just dropping the damn ball Which leaves me wondering sometimes what does peak Bryce look like. Guys like Sam you’d watch in NY/Carolina and he’d have so many boneheaded plays that you were left thinking if he could just clean these up you’d have a solid QB. And now we’re finally seeing Sam in a good offence and he’s able to play with timing and within structure and those boneheaded plays are cut down to 2-3 times a game Bryce doesn’t have a ton of boneheaded plays (minus flat out dropping the ball) so I dunno. I think Bryce can be a solid QB. Put Bryce in Seattle or Tampa and they’re still winning a lot of games  Coaching and overall team matters so much. The only dude that I think could probably do the most with the least in this league would be Lamar
    • They both struggle with that but Lawrence is a significantly better athlete and an INSANELY more physically gifted passer. He has very limited reasons to be struggling the way he has. I will say, when he came into the league I specifically remember an interview that he basically intimated that he would be okay if his life didn't involve football and I have always questioned if he was passionate enough to be elite from that moment onward.
