Time to cut DeAngelo Williams.

Again, I'm gonna need some sources. He's got plenty of allegedly manufactured evidence to the contrary on Twitter

If social media didn't exist....the support behind the current version of Williams would be different.

Thankfully Gettlemen knows this about business. Ole Dave is about that action boss!! Dave don't care about pokes, likes and tweets. Those don't help you win on Sunday

There are a number of stop-gap cheap RBs who will hit free agency. Bilal Powell, Darren McFadden, Jacquizz Rodgers, Shane Vereen... that's one of the easiest spots to fill, no need to use a draft pick unless there's a big time talent hanging around the late rounds.

You can find what use to be a 2nd round caliber RB in the 4th or 5th round.

i'll be your source. i can assure you he ignored my 10 year old daughter...it was labor day monday 2014 at the uptown practice facility. we were standing at the field entrance with no more than 10 other people there: star, cam, olsen, kahlil, benjamin, kuechly, rivera all stopped and signed my daughters panthers visor... not only an autograph but smiled and posed for a picture. Cam even had the guy driving the golf cart he was on stop, he got off the cart and took a few moments to make her day with an autograph and picture. when she saw deangelo, she said "mr. williams will you sign my visor please". he didn't even look up, he said "nope" i gotta go to work.  no problem, he doesn't owe us a thing I told my daughter.

Jeremy had a thread on it last training camp.

And I'll do a little advertising here:

Join all pro and you can get some good stories on Deangelo.

I might join all pro at some point but I'm not going to pay $5 to hear gossip about DeAngelo Williams

Yes, let's finally start correcting how this team is built only to turn around and immediately use a first round pick on a huge RB coming off a ACL injury

Gurley won't be there anyway so you don't have to worry about it. I'd rather have a sure thing then reach for an OL or WR.

I can't say I'd be too upset if they snag Shaq Thompson at 25.

He is our best running back. Just because a bunch of guys with fresh legs come in late and run behind and improved o-line doesn't make them better. What would I have invested in D-Will? I am invested in having our best players on the field

Williams is our best RB, that is why the coaches were so anxious to get him back out there even with a broken hand

he cant even break a tackle. Not sure how he is the best

Not true.

For example look at the last postseason win in franchise history. Carolina down in the 3rd quarter. Boom. Fozzy. TD. Game over. Carolina wins first playoff game since 2005.

That is true. If there was ever a game that we got a lot of credit for winning, it was that one.

Well you can spend your time feeling bad ESPN didn't give us enough credit if you want.....I don't care personally.

Fact is you said Fozzy only did garbage time stuff. Him putting us up with a huge explosive play in the postseason simply proves your statement false.

would have been nice to see him get some of the snaps Williams did in the next playoff game

    • Said Bryce is part of the wins and plays a key position. Not the same as saying he's the key to the wins. But also not denying he plays a role in them because...well, he did. Even if you limit his contributions to the  game winning drives in the 4th quarter, those still count. And yes, he's improved. but saying that doesn't equate to saying he's good enough to put the franchise label on him. It's just a simple acknowledgement that he's better than he used to be (to what degree is debatable). As to his initial expectations, I'll just say stats aren't the only thing I don't care about. What he is matters way more than what he was expected to be. And what is he? He's what you referenced, a mid-tier quarterback. Not the "worst in the league" or "worst ever" as some claim. That's just hyperbole.  Lots of teams have those. Very few teams have elite ones. And I wouldn't bet on next year's draft having a supply of those either. And again, stats. We used to have a number of folks who bandied about some of Delhomme's stats, Newton's stats, etc. But lets look at a few of those... What metric do you prefer? Yards, perhaps? Well, if those are key then Jared Goff, Sam Darnold and Bo Nix are all doing better than Baker Mayfield right now.  The second best quarterback in the league? Dak Prescott. And Young? Well, he's outpacing CJ Stroud, Lamar Jackson, Tua Tagavailoa and even Aaron Rodgers. Prefer touchdowns? Cool. On that front, Jared Goff is tied for third in the league with Drake Maye, leading Rodgers, Mayfield. Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen among others. Bryce is 15th in the league here, just a single score shy of Rodgers, Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones and Josh Allen.  Ahead of Tagavailoa, Trevor Lawrence, Caleb Williams, and Jackson. Interceptions? Holy hell, Bryce has fewer interceptions than Sam Darnold, Trevor Lawrence and, again... Josh Allen. Does that mean I can go out and post on X that Bryce has better ball security than Allen? But wait, are some of these stats...misleading? Or perhaps...out of context? Ya know, it seems like they kinda are. Weird, huh 🤔
    • It's how we ended up with Brian Burns and not Greg Little in the 1st. Dan Snyder overruled his entire staff and took Dwayne Haskins RIP. If Burns had been the selection like many expected, Hurney had already said he was taking Little at 16. That would have brought his 1st round success rate down a few pegs. Woof!
