Jaguars and falcons to pursue Julius Thomas

I hope the Falcons sign Julius Thomas. He turned down $8M per year from Denver last year so he's clearly looking for a lot of money, and I bet they pay him a lot. Peyton made him seem much better than he is. Good redzone target but has a whole lot of trouble staying healthy and is far from a game changer like Gronk or Graham.

This.  He's a good TE, don't get me wrong, but I'd love to see the Falcons spend even more money on pass catchers while neglecting their major deficiencies - defense and OL.  They had the #5 passing offense in the NFL last year and the #32 defense.  So, yeah, PLEASE spend more money on pass catchers while neglecting the D!  I love it!

If it's a player for the Panthers: "Pay the man! It's not my money who cares? Two TE sets!""

If it's a another team: "I hope they over pay and destroy their team!"

I don't think that's necessarily true at all.  A lot of us here were concerned about handing J. Stew a big money deal after DeAngelo already had his.  A lot of us here questioned the logic behind franchising Hardy last year tying up about 20% of our total cap space in our starting DEs.

    • I never thought a second look was even necessary. I was begging the football gods not to have us trade up to the 1st pick. And damn once we did it was a thoroughbred vs a little pony.    If you have a perceived generational player in the pool and you have the 1st pick, you just don’t trade it. In the first place. But all this Bryce drama - which (understandably) takes over almost any thread, just like this one - would never have happened if the team was not sold to Tepper.
    • I agree. I understand why he did though. And surely he had his parents in his ear who have always gone out of their way to make sure he always had the best and the least amount of adversity around him to that point in his life advising him to do so. Where I take the most issue with it is when people who just want to be sycophants start listing off other QB's who didn't throw at the combine and you don't even make it through half the names before your eyes roll right into the back of your head realizing every single of those QB's who didn't throw already clearly showcased the necessary prerequisite physical talents needed for the position.
