Nick O'leary

My fav TE, but I view him as a H-back&STace type that id love to have in the 4th. The whole TE class is terrible and the top guy max is a mid 3rd at best. Those claiming he's a 1st are mistaken, even in 2nd its a bad pick. Nick is a football player, one that helps you wins games..

Not sure I see the value, even in late rounds

get him in the 4th so that we can get rid of Tolbert.

can be a special teams ace with good hands for screens out of the backfield.

could start from day 1 and adds another red zone threat.

would allow Olsen to run more routes instead of having to be in the backfield as a blocker.

in Mayock's first ranking since the Combine of the best TEs, he dropped O'Leary from the #3 TE to the #5 TE

his new TE ranking:

Tight end

1. Maxx Williams , Minnesota

2. Clive Walford , Miami (Fla.)

3. MyCole Pruitt , Southern Illinois

4. Blake Bell , Oklahoma

5. Nick O'Leary , Florida State

Rise: Pruitt (NR), Bell (NR)

Fall: O'Leary (3); Tyler Kroft, Rutgers (4); Ben Koyack , Notre

Dame (5)

I like O'Leary in the late third. If the Panthers can get him later, even better.

Anyone who thinks O'Leary isn't needed on this team isn't paying attention. Lead blocking has been awful the last few years. The only decent blocker the Panthers have is Richie Brockel, who unfortunately has no hands.

With O'Leary in there you get excellent blocking and a good route runner with excellent hands.

Also, not sure GM's will put much stock in his 40 time. The kid is coming off a January hamstring pull. Just go watch some FSU games if you want to see his game speed.

Don't understand the fascination with Nick. Way bigger needs, you want blocking in the back field? Put Brandon Williams back there.

I like Brandon, but his blocking is below average at best.

He may not make the squad this year unless he improves in camp.

O'Leary is an interesting potential pick up. Especially with the way 'traditional' FBs are starting to fade off into the sunset. Teams are realizing that the need for a bulldozer blocking back to open holes for RBs aren't as needed in the current NFL. It opens up another spot on the field that would be better served with another receiver or a hybrid back, much the way Dickson and Williams were utilized last year.  O'Leary fits the bill of what our offense and the trending offenses that are ahead of the curve utilize. Depending on who's available in the 3rd, the pick would be solid if they tab O'Leary.

    • You must be one of these "one move away guys."
    • ESPN has a whole is just hot takes and the dumbest takes possible. That is why it sucks so badly. They intentionally drag everything down to a lightspeed retarded level so that it is unwatchable. No jounalism, no nuance, no in depth analysis....just idiot after idiot blabbering/shouting about some hot button issue that they really have no real strong opinions about until the camera is rolling.
    • Young is the overwhelming priority. We have ample time on them and it's far easier to pivot at WR than QB. Remember that 2026 is year 4 for Bryce. That is 5th year option decision time and also the prime time to attempt to regain resources if a pivot is made. The odds of gaining any assets in a trade afterwards plumment very rapidly(all this depending on performance, obviously). At the end of that cycle, now we are likely in a $45+ million territory for him to remain.  So that decision trumps all others by a mile when it comes to personnel.
