I like WalterFootball.com's current mock for Carolina

panthersb_logo.gif Carolina Panthers: T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh Pittsburgh_logo.gif
25. The Panthers couldn't block for Cam Newton whatsoever early in the season. The offensive line was able to gel late in the year, but there are still some glaring holes there, particularly at both tackle positions. Charlie Campbell reported that multiple teams have second-day grades on T.J. Clemmings, as you can see in the NFL Draft Rumor Mill, but he has enough upside to be chosen late in the first frame.

57. The Panthers likely will select the top available player from the tackle or receiver position in the first few rounds. Those are their two big areas of need. They have to find someone to draw attention away from Kelvin Benjamin.

89. Jonathan Stewart finished the year on a strong note, but the Panthers can't depend on him because he's so frequently banged up. With DeAngelo Williams officially gone, Carolina will have to add another running back.

121. It shouldn't surprise anyone if the Panthers double up on the tackle position. Both of their tackles were putrid last year.

153. Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis are studs, but Carolina could stand to find a third linebacker to complement the two Pro Bowlers.

Would I be thrilled with T.J. Clemmings?  No, there are other OT prospects I like better.  But if he's the one that falls to us and DG pulls the trigger, I think the kid definitely has the make-up of an OT (even though its rough, raw material right now).  I really, really like all the other picks that (to me) seem to fit BPA at the time they were chosen in addition to filling team needs.

(P.S. This mock is only through the 5th round at this point.)

I don't mind the positions that are being picked, in that, I agree.  I could see WR in first, OT in second, so just fliped around.  The players, idk so much about that.  But I like the idea of using the first 4 rounds on straight offense.  Even if we sign a WR (which we should) in FA, I'm still liking that.

Agreed. Has Keary Colbert/Dwayne Jarrett written all over him.

Also, I thought we agreed on no linemen from small programs. Unless you're talking about Florida State, or basketball, ACC is small time. (Sorry Kueck)

Really? All over him? How does he compare to those two players? Without using "he's a USC WR" please....

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
