NFL: Greg Hardy won't be reinstated because he hasn't been disciplined yet

Too bad the public is ignorant as fug and doesn't understand Hardy's situation whatsoever. If they knew he was getting fuged over and is likely innocent (instead of them just blindly thinking he's a "wife beater" like Rice), then there'd be a fuss about how the league is screwing him over. And realize this... If he gets a 2 game suspension, the league is saying being accused of something but never proven is the exact same as being guilty of a crime with video evidence. If he gets more than 2 games, then being accuses of something that is never proven, is actually WORSE than being guilty with video evidence. The league will fight their hardest to keep Hardy off the field for as long as they can, but they won't win the fight. And this bullshit may eventually cost Goodell his job.

Goodell should have already lost his job over his handling of these domestic abuse cases, especially Rice's. The only thing that has saved him is that he has his nares so far up the NFL owners backsides that he can't break free. I am at the point where I blame the owners more than Goodell who I despise and want to see fired.

HE WAS PAID FOR THE REGULAR SEASON AND POSTSEASON. THAT IS WHAT THE NFL CARES ABOUT. PUNISHMENT IS MONEY, NOT PAID TIME OFF.

sorry for shouting.

Adam Silver handled it right with the Jeff Taylor situation, retroactively fining him the amount he made during his paid suspension.

how is he likely innocent?

He got a guilty verdict...he appealed...then he paid her off....then chargers were dismissed.

IMO, the safest bet if you had to guess what happened....both he and she were probably both guilty that night.

I think he likely gets 1-2 games for conduct detrimental.

He's likely innocent if you actually paid attention to the situation and the trial. This was one of the most obvious money grabs I've seen in the nfl. At least in recent memory that i can remember. The only thing he's even remotely possibly guilty of is saying something stupid, but I imagine that'd be hard to prove.

The guilty verdict is completely irrelevant if you've listened to any of the lawyers discuss that, and how it works in NC. And if you followed the case at all you'd realize that it was completely outrageous to begin with.. And it's never been proven he paid her off at all. IF there was a case to begin with, they wouldn't need her testimony to go through with it. Pictures of any supposed harm to her would've been enough to go through with the case. And they have pictures. They clearly don't show any injuries supporting her testimony from the first trial or they would've gone through with the case and used that testimony in addition to the photo "evidence." I use the term evidence lightly because there was literally 0 evidence at all of Hardy being guilty. Just a coked up bitch's word.

Whatever they fine/suspend him he will appeal and probably win since his case was dismissed. Probably why they are waiting. They know they are going to look stupid again.

This is not about Hardy at this time. I don't care if he ever plays in the NFL again. This is about the NFL getting caught with their pants down and instead of getting out in front of the problem they bent over backwards to public opinion and a witch hunt and went total bonkers. Their ineptitude has done more harm to the shield than any of these court problems. As their awesome commercial says "No More" please. Get these things behind them then institute policies (along  with the NFLPA)  that will be valid and not try to retroact the punishments. Then you can at least save face and say Yes there is a problem and this is how we ( NFL and Players) will handle it going forward.

I paid attention.  I stick with my guess if I was forced to bet MY money on what happened.....and was told I would then have a video feed of went down after I guess?  I'm guessing both them did stuff that would have gotten both arrested that night.

and saying something stupid was basically a HUGE part of his charge.

no reason Hardy would sign a one year cheap deal.  it would be dumb....and his agent ain't that dumb (nor is Hardy)

Maybe the way you think it would be dumb, but it would show a lot of things. First of all, he would have another opportunity to show his worth to teams and get a bigger contract. No way he'll get as big of a contract now as he would've last year if we didn't tag him. In addition, it'll show other possible suitors how good of a teammate he is and that he can stay out of trouble. And maybe he is a good enough person that he realizes that the team and mainly his teammates and brothers got fuged over because of him and he'd make it up to them with a year for less money. And maybe he actually likes the Panthers and his teammates enough that it's not just about money for him. If he's confident in his abilities then it would actually be very smart to sign for less this year to stay in Carolina and have huge success and then get a massive contract on the open market next year.

Doesn't matter how the law works in NC.....not in this discussion.  That only matters when talking about Greg's legal situation.  We aren't talking about that....

What would happen in another state?  Would it matter?  Sure it would.  Just b/c NC has a quirky law doesn't mean it doesn't matter for Hardy but would have someone in Calif that doesn't have that quirk law....NFL would look at both the same.  B/c the only difference is the quirk....and that really doesn't matter.

It does when you're citing the guilty verdict as "evidence" that he was guilty.

    • If Mays has a market, which it seems he will, he's gone.  I think we bring back Nijman for too much money to be cautious at LT, Corbett comes back cheap since he's already said he wants to live in CLT, and Christensen eventually gets re-signed with the hopes he can be depth at some point.  Draft an OT, draft a C. The OL might be rough for stretches next year, but time to get some youth there to prepare for Bryce in 2027 or the next QB. I still think we compete for the division in 2026 and can go back to the playoffs unlike the oddsmakers in Vegas, but the *real* year is 2027 IMO. Either Bryce has proven it and he's the QB looking at his 2nd contract, or we have the ready-made team for the next rookie QB or Vet we trade for.
    • The Panthers are going to have a lot more flexibility in free agency than it looks like at first glance. On paper, the cap space might seem tight, but there are several obvious restructure candidates that could easily free up significant room. Between converting base salaries into signing bonuses and spreading cap hits out over future years, Carolina could realistically clear $60–80 million in additional space if they wanted to be aggressive. That kind of flexibility means they’re not stuck. They can extend key young pieces, add help along the offensive line, upgrade the defense, and still be strategic about value signings. Letting Cade Mays test the market makes sense from a leverage standpoint. If he’s willing to come back on a team-friendly deal, great, continuity on the line matters. But if his market price climbs, the Panthers should absolutely explore upgrades. The point is, this front office isn’t boxed in. With cap maneuvering and smart structuring, they have the ability to be active players in free agency rather than sitting on the sidelines like we are used too.
