HC Rivera lunching with UCLA DL Owamagbe Odighizuwa at FreshCornGrill in Westwood right now.

"man does Godzilla wreak havoc on offensive tackles in this episode of the film room."

Owa's USC game is impressive, think he'd be a great 4-3 LDE.

STRENGTHS: Provides consistent disruption from right defensive end position. Scouts love pass rushers with long arms and the 6-foot-3, 270-pound Odighizuwa has that trait, despite limited sack numbers. Combination of burst and power to beat tackles to the outside, and has shown good balance and agility to spin back inside.

In the Bruins' versatile 3-4 base defense, his main responsibility is to seal the edge and play the run, using his length and power to occupy blockers to help plug run lanes and give the other rushers a chance to disrupt the pocket.

On some passing downs, Odighizuwa does stand up as an edge rusher and has a chance to show off his skill-set as a pass rush threat, using his natural bend and athleticism to beat blockers in space.

Can beat tackles inside with good initial quickness and a powerful bull rush. When moving inside, quickly slips past guards to pressure the backfield.

WEAKNESSES: Two surgeries on his hip that required sitting out the 2013 season will require thorough medical checks. Pass rush arsenal is still a work in progress. Lacks the explosive burst off the edge or nifty change of direction expected of a first-round pick.

COMPARES TO: Everson Griffen, Minnesota Vikings -- Like his former cross-town rival, Odighizuwa is an extraordinary athlete with a muscle-packed frame, an explosive first step and the power to hold up in the running game. Griffen dropped to the fourth round due to questions about his consistency at Southern Cal. Odighizuwa's concerns are medically-based, though if teams red flag him, he could see a similar slip on draft day.

Would love to get him in the 2nd or 3rd if he falls kind of like Ealy or Griffen as that up there suggests could happen. Not sure I want to pull the trigger in the 1st, but I can't say I'd hate it.

"Odighizuwa is considered to be a physical freak, with a strong showing at the combine ... He was the top performer in the vertical and broad jumps. His 39 inch vertical is two inches more than J.J. Watt posted in his combine in 2011....“Diggy” can do a lot for a team. ... [at UCLA] you’ll see Diggy line up as a 3-4 OLB, a 4-3 DE, and sometimes a stand up linebacker"

Two hip surgeries?  That's not good.

I'd much rather have an OT or WR at #25, but hey, if the guy checks out medically and the Robert Quinn comparison is legit, bring him on in!

Plus it'd be fun to see how many different ways his name gets spelled on here.

“Owamagbe Odighizuwa (oh-wah-MAH-bay oh-DIG- ee-zoo-wah) — or as the kids these days call him, “Diggy” — fits the mold of a true 4-3 defensive end, showing the size and power to hold up against the run, and the technique to get after the quarterback.”

    • Seems to me that the Bucs have less fight in them now than they had in week 16. The real test is going to be if the Panthers can sustain focus and discipline throughout. With the Bucs being at home, maybe that gives them a little boost of confidence and energy.  Wouldn’t it be something if for ONCE the Panthers came out and dominated from the opening snap and just took this shook Bucs team to task?  If the Panthers see-saw form follows, we are in line for the W. Hard to say we have momentum but we do have a pretty clear pattern of following a loss with a win.  I’m going to say 24-16 Panthers!!
    • When Parcell’s said Bryce better “walk on water”…..the implied concern wasn’t that the tiny QB could survive being hit.  It was acknowledging he would have to be extremely special to overcome the handicaps he would face at this level.  Which he isn’t and can’t.  which isn’t just being hit.  It’s being able to play in an NFL pocket and make NFL throws from it….and that ultimately is Bryce’s problem.  He doesn’t play well from a NFL pocket and can’t make all the throws as needed.  He can’t see as others can.  Which impacts the throws he does and doesn’t take.  It also impacts him bailing and killing plays and turning them into scrambles/dead plays
    • 9:30 kick off here in Scotland, which is better than the 01:20 early hours of Monday that I feared. Will definitely be watching, but probably wouldn't if it had been 0120 as I need to be up for work at 05:45. Falcons Saints is 6pm on the Sunday so will watch that too if it becomes relevant
