(Rumor) Panthers interested in Cecil Shorts

Do not want.   He has never played a full season.  He is more of a #3 or #4 WR.   Imo....  We've a #3 and #4 WR already.... #3 = Cotch.  #4 = Philly/Ginn,  #5 = Bersin.         Need a solid #2 that can help take pressure off Benji... or that can take advantage of Benji drawing double and triple coverage  and get open and make plays.   I do not view Shorts as a player that can do either of those things.

Funny how every time a FA WR name is brought up, it seems like 75% of the Huddle is all, "Do not want."  "Too slow."  "Not what we need."  etc.

If we bring in a guy like Shorts, it's not going to be on a contract with much guaranteed money.  A guy like him would be brought in to COMPETE.  It's like you guys forget that as it stands right now, Jerricho Cotchery is our #2 WR.  Jerricho fuging Cotchery.  There are numerous FA WRs out there who would likely be available for quite reasonable contracts who would be an instant upgrade over Cotchery.

why? to replace Corchery? Cecil has never surpassed 1000 yards receiving. Would much rather go for a #2 caliber WR in the draft or just stick with Cotch

I would too. He's who I think we will get not who I want necessarily. When I said my pick I meant it as my prediction. I honestly don't know enough to know which possible Free Agent would be better. I think the draft would be a nice fill in at #2.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
