NFL Free Agency Update Thread

Ravens pick after us.. if DeVante Parker is there for us - could you see us passing on him? maybe if Andrus Peat and Parker are there it would be tough to choose

No way Parker is way better than Peat. Parker will start day one where as Peat may need time to become a starter.

That's the case with pretty much all OT's though. It is extremely rare that a rookie tackle starts and is anything more than below average. Those that are that good and polished go in the top 5.

I thought Wisniewski would get more attention.

Maybe a lot of the decision makers are guys who hated his dad.

(Lord knows there were plenty of those in the NFL)

Supposedly he is in the same situation as Crabtree. They are getting plenty of attention but are asking for way more than they are worth.

The guy I'm most surprised about is Brandon Spikes. I know he is a 2 down run stuffing MLB only, but he is really damn good at that. There's got to be somewhere in the league that he fits, but I haven't seen a peep about him.

That'd be no shock. Crabtree and Wisniewski are both guys known for having egos.

Spikes might be one of those guys who finds a home shortly after the draft.

Bills GM Doug Whaley mentioned that they hoping to re-sign veteran ILB Brandon Spikes in the coming weeks.
“Hopefully get Brandon Spikes back,” Whaley said, per Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News.

The market for inside linebackers has finally started to pick up in recent days, and Spikes is clearly among the best available players at the position.

49ers GM Trent Baalke said that Spikes is among the free agent linebackers that they’re considering right now, per Matt Barrows.
Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500 recently reported that the Vikings have “lukewarm” interest in Spikes.

Spikes, 27, was forced to sign a one-year, $3 million contract with the Bills last year after finding very limited interest on the open market.

In 2014, he appeared in all 16 games and recorded 54 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and three pass defines. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the N0. 13 inside linebacker out of 60 qualifying players due in large part to a very solid rating as a run-defender.

Still a decent amount of vet tackles and safeties left. The CB and WR market is drying up, Jennings, Nicks, Moore and Crabtree are basically what's left. I read we could sign a few restricted free agents without having to pay picks. I believe the players were Chris Hairston and Andre Holmes were the RFA.
