Hakeem Nicks Visiting Soon

i am in the vast minority here clearly. i would give him a 3 year deal at what he made last year. i would probably even offer the 4 that was supposedly offered last year. he is going into his age 27 season. has tons of potential and gives Cam a big body to throw to. he is a Super Bowl winner. i think he has a lot left in the tank.

Went to high school with him and He cool with my wife and her group of friends, so I just flat out asked him..... why he not here... he said they are talking about schemes and where he fits in , and if that works out he'll come for a visit.... His daughter is here and now he feels it's only right to come back home.

again this from a conversation I had with him, but said right both parties are really just trying to gage the situation.

One thing I have to point out...

While the thread title implies it's definitely happening, your actual post only says it might happen.

The title winds up being a little misleading based on what you actually posted.

I don't know about holding faith in rumors. I remember reading that his enteurage might cause him some bad distractions here in Charlotte and that this might not be the best atmosphere for him to work his profession.

seeing how the Hardy deal went down, I think he has a better appreciation about how strict the Panther FO is with shenanigans...so maybe being away helped him get his head on right and separate himself from bad influences?

if he's healthy, focused and has his head on straight...I have faith he could have a really good thing going here for the remainder of his career.

I was going by the rumor that the OP stated...that he turned down more money here to go to the Colts.

I think after last year's dance, DG would bring him in on no more than a 2 year deal, and not much more than what he got last year.

The thing with Nicks is that he followed his ego last year and failed miserably, IMO.  Maybe coming home to a place where he is more comfortable and has more support in place, and with a little reality check of what tier WR he is, he could flourish.

If he signed, I would still draft a WR in rounds 2 or 3.  Someone like Devin Smith, Tre McBride, Tony Lippett, etc.

Benji

Nicks

McBride

Brown

Ginn

Cotchery/Hill/Lucas

Gotta say, I'd be happy with those weapons for Cam.  As the season progressed, I could see the rookie WR getting as much burn as Nicks too.  It would be like a WR2A and WR2B.

    • I just don't see how winning is possible this year. I mean, their penciled in starter is Mason Rudolph. I'd venture to say there's a decent chance they're trotting out a 6th round rookie at QB this season in Will Howard just to see what he can do out there before they feel forced to push all their chips to the middle in the draft next year.
    • We got more for Mingo than the Steelers got for Pickens.
    • I never expected pickens to to be there more than this season after the DK trade. I mean they essentially play the same role. The steelers won't be tanking until they blow it up and fire tomlin, IMO. They believe they are a playoff team every season with that defense keeping their floor relatively high, and the lack of a QB keeping the ceiling close to the floor. I don't think a third round pick (plus later round picks) from the pickens trade is helping them that much in terms of draft capitol to trade up for a QB in the draft. I also don't think TJ is leaving though people look to JJ as a hey he did it, why not TJ. Though I am expecting them to blow it up in 2-3 years after more of the same possible wildcard 1st round exits (if they even make it) and late draft positions. I just don't see them being top 5 pick unless they officially blow it up.
