Gettleman: Oher can be answer at left tackle

The O-Line is more than just tackles. Look at who Gettleman actually brought into the O-Line: Remmers, Norwell and Turner all proved to be good starting caliber O-linemen. You can shout about Chandler and Bell being mistakes, but at the same time acknowledge his successes before questioning his scouting ability.

He brought them in, but they didn't realize what they had till everyone got hurt and they had no options left (minus Turner).  But he did bring them in, just didn't realize their potential.  But some of that could be Rivera.

I really don't see what the big deal is with you people here. We are using a stop gap with low risk high reward capabilities to fill a hole in our O-Line...

He LITERALLY can't be worse than Bell people. He's an upgrade if nothing else. How much of an upgrade is yet to be seen, but I don't expect him to be our franchise LT going forward.

I wouldn't want to either, there won't be anything but projects there at 25.

Humphries has to be the "favorite" with the hometown ties and he just had a private meeting with the team. He's compared by many to Ryan Clady. Strong and exciting comparison.

Collins, Peat, Flowers, and Clemmings have all been in the top 10 in various random mock drafts, as well as being available at 25 in others.

And now the chicken littles have a rallying cry!

While I am more than a little concerned about Oher considering his history...Got to trust Dave.  I mean the things he said make sense.  I'm not a football evaluator, just a fan who likes watching football and cheering on my home team no matter how terrilbe they have been in the past.

Here's to hoping our coaches can do some magic with Oher!

Humphries is mildly entertaining to me, Clemmings is a massive project.  Colins, Peat, and Flowers are all studs.  If any 3 of those guys fall, we better jump on them ASAP.

Some of it might have been Ron, some of it might have been that you need TIME to train o-linemen and for them to understand the scheme before being plugged straight in.

As bad as Amini and Chandler were, you can not just plug people in until they've learnt their responsibilities. Understanding your role on the O-line is as important as any god-given talent you have.

Come October this board will look like it does every year.

It's not "cool" to say things that go against the homer narrative I know, but let's at least please act like adults with some measure of impartiality. I get that you guys don't like to be confronted with reality, I do, this is your favorite team and you'd rather kid yourself than face the facts. But all I ask is that you please don't come crying once the season starts.

This board looks like this every single year. Every year. The offseason rolls around, Tiquan underwood gets signed, and all the "cool guys" respond to anybody who dares question the all impartial homer narrative with hyperbole and insults. Then the season is played, and surprise suprise, Tiquan Underwood can't make the roster or ends up being the reason the team isn't very good.

Forgive me i choose to be a little bit better. Delude yourself if you like.

Guess what? Dave Gettleman screwed up last year. He thought Byron Bell would be a good LT. He was wrong. Byron bell ended up being one of the worst offensive lineman in the league and was even directly responsible for a game changing play for the worst in the most important game of the year. And now? Now he hasn't learned from his mistakes.

Gettlemagic is all I can really say.

Just saw this and thought it was related:

Please list your alternatives at the tackle position.

I'm not saying he won't or can't.

But we thought this with Byron Bell too. Not to mention Chandler at RT. We know how that worked out.

At some point you are going to have to take a risk and stop relying on project type players to protect your franchise QB.

I actually believe you spoke to your "source" again because as usual, it's wrong again (or was your "source" another deluded fantasy in line with your take on our personnel moves, please enlighten me' I'm curious)

I like Gettleman a lot, actually. He does a number of things quite well. I however, unlike the rest of the blind masses that ignorantly drone out his praises when he makes poor decisions, am willing to recognize those failures and hope that he makes corrections. When he doesn't, as is my position as a fan, I can call him out in those errors.

But please by all means let me know what your insider has to say, does he talk to you in your head too?

That you have some kind of vendetta against Gettleman and you will not rest until you complain about every single thing possible about this teams. Seems like so far this is the most accurate my source has been.
