End of the road for River in SD?

Rivers might have like 3-4 years left in the tank. Cam has 10. I'd rather have a franchise QB locked up for as long as possible than to have to find one in a couple more years...franchise QBs don't grow on trees...we're looking to keep our SB window open as long as possible.

no on Rivers

That depends because he could decide to play forever like Farve, Manning, Brady. If so that means he has over 5 years left.

Depends a whole lot on the OL that he would be playing behind. Our OL is a work in progress, and we still have no future starting left tackle in place as of yet. You put a guy who will be turning 34 years old back there when the season starts, you might get him injured.

Besides, trading a 25 year old franchise QB for a guy who is 33 and immobile exceeds even Cleveland Browns level of stupidity.

Well Luke is apparently worth 2 first round picks, so you'd rather trade him then move Cam to LB.

This board is something else today

What the hell are you talking about?  I never said a thing about trading Luke.  The discussion was about Phillip Rivers and I mentioned a trade someone else made on another board I go to.

But since you brought it up, I really would prefer to keep both Cam and Luke.

Trading Cam for Rivers is just never going to happen, that's crazy.

As to putting Rivers behind this line....he would probably make them look a little better.  He has been a starting QB in this league for a very long time.  Dude knows how to make adjustments, call audibles, and get rid of the ball quickly.

Again, trading Cam for anyone not named Rodgers is not something that I want to talk about.

I guess you missed that whole thread about trading Luke to SF. Trading away our franchise players for picks has been a theme today.

Back when i was a young buck, i used to take his order at Fat Daddy's in Raleigh. Never really understood why the managers and owners kissed his ass at the time ( they were all State fans and i didnt give a crap about college ball)...but he was always cool in there...never took on an air of superiority...etc.

Wish him much success wherever he goes or stays!

Oh, you took his order all right.

No, I saw it. What I didn't see was the leap of logic you made to make your post. It made sense. Nowhere have I said I wanted to trade away any of our franchise players. What I did say was that I'd want way more than one 1st round pick to even consider such a trade.
